Saturday travels

Feel North Carolina-ish yesterday - all the talk about NASCAR and not comfortable listening to NY sports talk hosts trying to sound interested as they interviewed their NASCAR guests. Mel Kiper Jr was the only one I heard that really knew what he was talking about and had a genuine interest. I hope I get the channel the race is on. Also UNC came to Boston College for the first time and beat their hosts. And did have a bit of a feeling that I was still adjusting back to being back "home". I was sad to see that OKS lost to Missouri and glad to see Texas A&M won. I cannot wait for March Madness to start. Just the talk of "bracket buster weekend" as they labeled this weekend, makes my heart sing. Found out that I have a ticket for my alma mater's last game of the season AND it is in the press box. I am happy.
Don't want to sound like a broken record - but GUESS what came on on the way to Pomfret?.. yup, the Check Engine Light. But I also went over the 140,000 mile mark, so I was going to schedule an oil change that was "due" at 140,000. I will keep you posted if my Scion or Mazda 3* are in the works. I think I will at least go to both dealerships to at least know what I am up against if I was to want to buy.
Took a short walk yesterday morning, then headed to Pomfret for their girls' JV and Varsity basketball games. Very entertaining and I clapped for both sides. Then sister #4, #5 and her daughter to Mozzarella's - I had pizza which I had been craving and the leftovers from a small will be dinner for a couple of night.
Forgot to share about the danger of riding around with snow on top of your car. On my way back on Friday a sheet of snow/ice flew off the top of a car and SMASHED the passenger side of this guy's windshield. I don't think I would have been able to be as calm as he was as he pulled over and collected himself as he had to keep going. Also, as to travel patterns, I am thinking that if I am in the vacation mood this time next year - Spring Training may be the ticket. I will keep that in the back of mind.
* My 7 "picks" from the Consumer Reports in order of CR Overall Score rating not my like:
Honda Civic
Ford Fusion
Mazda 3
Toyota Matrix
Toyota Corolla
Honda FIT
Scion xB - but in reading the fine print, "the xB will be discontinued by the end of 2006, and replaced by redesigned model."
I will be cancelling my March dermatologist appointment tomorrow. I already cancelled what would have been a February appointment at the internal medicine doctor. What I thought might be a problem has disappeared.
Concert over at the "white church" today at 4 p.m. I am thinking I will go to church this a.m. with my parents and brother, take my walk, then go to the concert, then watch the race.
Have a good Sunday.
