It has been an interesting week. Monday night through Thursday a.m. I was niece/house sitting for my brother's family. It was a fun change of pace for me to have a place and a person to take care of. Going home to someone and sitting around over dinner with someone across the table - nice change but I was happy to get home last night. I got to stay late at work last night and up early to go in this a.m. My lucky-ness held in that the weather was fine while I was in charge of the home front and as soon as maternal grandfather took over - BIG snow storm. But that was perfect. I was not stuck in the middle of nowhere with schools and businesses closing for the day and niece had someone home with her for her snow day. Any my lucki-ness continued as I left work a bit early today - a very strange feeling with my schedule of late - and came home to find "plow boy" in the parking lot. It was a "perfect storm" on so many levels.
I had a flashback when I found myself in a high school parking lot waiting for the bus to bring kids back from a game. My niece had a holiday tournament so I was driving her home at 10 p.m. Tuesday she had another day off, but she stayed home while I went to work. I left a bit early and picked her up to bring her back to school for a basketball game and dinner at the dining hall. Wednesday she was off to school and me to work. After her practice, I picked up pizza on my way home and she had a salad made when I got home - nice end of the day. Also, my brother had full cable, so post pizza ESPN UNC-NC State. Another lucky day. It was a fun way to spend the week.
But now back to my "regular" life - lots of fun work and shoveling snow. I will be off to the office tomorrow morning. Another weekend event.
I did not check email or write on my "electronic vacation" - I am just catching up on the news - Billikens beat Fordham, Castro, McCain, Obama - I can't wait until the NewsHour tonight with Brooks and Shields bringing me up to speed.
Will have to do some shoveling out before I get going in the a.m. Good weekend ahead.
