Rainy Monday

As I wrote my siblings this a.m.: "In the "my life could not be more bizarre" category - in the last week I have been nominated for two positions in Canton's volunteer world - a family friend put my name up for a director position on the Canton Historical Museum Board and a family friend nominated me for St Patrick's Parish Council...I passed on the CHMB but did volunteer to work this Thursday and Saturday for their annual Tag Sale. But the Parish Council was too intriguing as to the election method. They have 27 names and 4 open positions. The Parish Council and Father May will pray over the names and then Father will pick out four names from a hat at the May 11 10 a.m. mass...as the lady who called me said "that way we know it is God's will as to who will serve". I am thinking our presidential election process should take note. It was also a "sign" for me because I want getting antsy about staying around town or moving again - maybe I will find out what I should be doing based on what "God says" I should be doing. Talk about taking the easy way out of that decision making process.

As to other news, I had a great day trip to NYC last week to celebrate my son's 25th birthday. It is nice that I can actually walk through the neighborhood where he lives without being scared. We got to see the Pope (I saw more of the pope mobile than I did the Pope, but the crowd and pope item vendors was entertaining in itself). Things are moving along at Ethel. We are not full yet, but we will be talking to our new "leader" next week so I will be interested to hear her rally the troops speech.

I am off to an art opening at the Florence Griswold Museum with a co-worker on Thursday night. I am calling a friend to see where she suggests we go for a great cheap dinner. As to Old Lyme - don't forget Jun 14-21 at G-8. That is what my stimulus check will be paying for."

It makes me laugh that people who have not known me for decades feel moved to volunteer my name for all the town posts. I could have been off being a "Charlotte Manson" for the last 30 years and they would not even know...interesting how I can live off my family fame for years.

I worked yesterday - a.m. counting money at church and afternoon at work at school. No writing. But good walk around the "regular" route in town when I got home from work. All the fishermen out enjoying the river.

Better get going.
