Wednesday before vacation

I finished my to-do list yesterday at work so looks like all is in place to take Thursday and Friday off. I do need to go into work for lunch on Thursday for a going away party for a co-worker who is leaving and Friday later in the day for an after work party at a co-worker's family's home (she is dorm faculty so she is moving the party off site). But I will still have some extra time to get organized - pack, buy groceries (what is that!!!), go to the library, straighten up the house in case the landlord brings my new refrigerator in while I am gone - lots to do.

I did go to the year end faculty meetings - I wanted to hear the message the HOS was sending all the faculty off with for the summer. I did come out with a positive take on 3 items that she mentioned. After work I went to Plan B with two co-workers. Fun, but the heat took the power out in most of downtown Simsbury last night - just the heat, not the loss of power that happened in other parts of the state due to the storm. It is a breath of less humid air this a.m. thanks to those storms.

In the balance of the country - more severe weather. My dreams of Des Moines may be tempered a bit due to the weather pattern. I need to see how close it is to Cedar Rapids. In the world - the people I went to the Obama rally with are in Greece, I hope no where near the earthquake. Also China...no comforting news. I also was not happy with what I heard about Obama recommending another round of stimulus checks...I need to look more at that.

More faculty meetings today. I am going to go in early so I can get things lined up so I can go. They are going to talk about the kids who are in academic danger. I want to know how it will impact our enrollment numbers. After the meeting, we will have our end of year picnic and recognition event for 5,10,15,20,25 year service awards. One of the 20 year honorees is leaving so that may be a bit emotional for the group.

I love these long days of daylight! After Plan B, I came home and went for a long walk, then ran into some neighbors on the street corner downstairs - all and all a good day and night. And I have I mentioned that I love my new car? I love my new car.
