This July 1 has a bigger meaning than usual this year. New work situation, new attitude to my work, deeper impetus to make this second half of 2008 more significant for my life mission. Yesterday was a good re-entry day - the old boss, her "AA" (Administrative Assistant) for the College Counselling department and me, her "AA" for Admissions. Lots of moving things around to make sure everyone has a place to sit when all the "new kids" show up today. I went through what was left behind for me to do...by my next vacation, people will be "agile" enough with our computer database to do this work.
Outside of work, I left at the end of the regular day - volunteered to unload the car of a co-worker who becomes an ex-co worker as of today. She is trying hard to find another spot, but no luck so far. But she was too miserable to stay. The 10 years difference between the two of us could be a factor in making the cut for the jobs she has been interviewing. Maybe now that she is not trying to juggle current job while finding a new job things will fall into place. Unlike me - she does have a lot of "stuff" and higher overhead.
Read a great article in the Chapel Hill News that a friend wrote. Very inspirational that she is doing this freelance work.
Dining hall was open yesterday. Makes going back to work "work" for me. It is camper food versus regular student food, so a bit different selection, but I am sure the food services are having issues based on contracts signed versus cost of materials. I am very appreciative.
After I off loaded my co-worker's car of her office stuff, I decided that weather wise and time wise a walk made more sense than a swim. I will aim for a swim after work today.
Happy July 1 2008!
