I accomplished nothing on Saturday! As spunky as I felt on Friday - opposite reaction on Saturday. I tried to go for a walk - caught in rain. Did get to church, but caught in the rain on the walk home...never got hot or dry enough to try the pool. No reading my book. Lots of TV watching. As young and vibrant as I felt Friday, Saturday I felt every day of my age - and more. Oh well.
Did see some very interesting public TV but also some tennis and swimming. I always pay attention when Mark Spitz's record is discussed. He was my idol - I wish I still had the life size poster I got for the Christmas after the Olympics where he set his record. I was taken with him because I was going out with a swimmer who looked like him...THAT swimmer has come to mind a lot of late. It is the time of year - being by pools and he was one of "the ones" - one of the three men in my life that made my heart sing. Not that I was smart or productive about any of the three - and the man I was married to for 16 years was not one of the three - sort of sums it up as to how I managed my personal life A huge "oh well". I also got to see the end of the career of another favorite swimmer - Gary Hall, Jr.! He did not make the Olympic team and retired soon after he got out of the pool last night.
And as I discuss "the three" - reminds me that I have not obsessed about Rick Majerus of late.
Found a notice about a summer film festival at Wesleyan U starting this Wednesday. Last summer it featured Katharine Hepburn, this summer Ingrid Bergman and her leading men. I will look forward to that for July's Wednesdays.
Slept well last night but was woken up by a phone call from a California phone number at 3:30 a.m. our time - bad timing for a wrong number.
Today I really want to spend some time with my book, but first things first will be to walk through the Farmers' Market, walk to pool, walk home - then start my day. Also need to make a list of summer projects so I can have alternatives in place in case there are any more "no spunk" summer days. But if nothing else happens, the fact that I did not head to work is good news all around.
Not as many talking head shows as usual due to the men's Wimbledon Finals this a.m. But I think I will get enough news.
Next week is going to be hard with the 5 whole days of work...glad I have the film festival to look forward to mid week.
Have a good Sunday.
