West Hartford Health and Rehab will be my new after work locale for awhile...the good news it is within walking distance to my parents' house. My father will not walk it, but it is walkable. It is also walkable to Blue Back Square. That could make it a bit entertaining if we have to vacate for PT or other procedures. I don't hang around for "procedures".
On a bigger level, wonder how many of these "drills" there will be before the real thing. This is a very tiring deal - from my completely and totally selfish angle. But I must think that my parents must live with that thought more deeply than I do.
My other thought last night on the drive home was should I be doing some absentee ballot work at the Rehab center?...
I had a little anger management issue with the hospital last night. Mother got the OK to move at 2:30 p.m. yesterday but paperwork and the wheelchair van did not come together until 8:30 p.m. Luckily my brother was stationed at my parents' house and drove my father over and my sister's partner had positioned sister #3's car at my parents so I would be driving her home from rehab. She can't drive at night. Partner #1 left to go back to Brooklyn and the plan is that sister #3 will return today leaving it back to my brother and I until the weekend when sister #1 plans to come up from DC and sister #3 and partner #1 plan on coming back.
Looking out my window right now, ambulance just pulled up to one of the neighboring house. One of the residents I remember from back in the day. She has been blind all her life, but had married and had children and I have seen her from my window on Sunday mornings being picked up for church. I hope she is not being taken to UCONN Medical Center...
Back to last night - transcribed records are produced in Florida with a "mandated" 2 hour turnaround, but it took 5. Wheelchair van was called and that took an hour... I asked a few questions about what are the ramifications of people not living up to their commitments to the hospital? Answer was "nothing we have control of"... that would be a difficult environment for me to work in. I can't imagine someone coming up to me at school telling me something needs to be done for one of our students and not being able to physically present that issue to a person who can do something about it. I guess that is why I have never been attracted to big companies.
I will head back to rehab tonight after work. Sister #3 will check things out and give me a report. Sister #5 and niece #4 maybe up tonight. Not sure how that works for either of them on a school night, but we will see.
Thinking of one more person I need to let know about mother and email my son to see how his Dad is doing...Have a good Tuesday.
