Yesterday was interesting. Had a good meeting with a co-worker about our appointment to the cost containment/contingency plan committee at school. I am thinking that the first meeting will be while I am on vacation so I wanted someone else to hear my piece and since the AHOS ran out of time Thursday - I think it all worked out better this way. Good to have a faculty member balance my non-faculty view of the world.
Passed on the monthly wine & cheese last night. Instead I left work at 4 p.m. and took my walk and headed into the parents' for a few minutes to check my shopping list for this a.m. Sister #3 will be up from NYC today so I will let her take over the home front this weekend. My plan is to get my oil change, go to Stew Leonards, go to parents, go to church, go to work. That is my plan.
I also need to work on my resume. It was very awkward when the boss walked in a little before 4 p.m. yesterday - 2 of my co-workers were already gone and she looked not happy to say the least. I don't know what moved her to come in after she had scheduled herself off Thursday and Friday. It did not make me take my walking shoes off, but it was awkward and reinforced the fact that is she is going to stay, she needs an assistant who likes her. But that is another reason I suggested the Admin Asst "pool" rather than the by department approach - that way you can pair up skill set with need, rather than pairing up personalities of boss/assistant. I will put my list together today for the AHOS.
Got a call from my son to take a look at a lease he is thinking of signing for a new living/studio space...scares the life out of me, but what else is new. But I know he needs to chart his own course and where did my course get me? I will read it over for detail when I am at the car place.
Got a text message from my friend in Benin in the Peace Corps. What a surprise. She was sending along a belated b'day and Happy Thanksgiving. Nice to know people are thinking about me half way around the world. I need to take a look at that application process to - maybe I need to make another move, but my goal right now is to change without moving? We will see what happens.
Today is the 45th anniversary of the assassination of JFK. I was in 6th grade. What a life changing/world changing event.
Have a good weekend.
