Walk and sunshine!

Ran into former school #1 co worker on the trails yesterday.  Too funny.  Again my walking is my socializing.  This particular former co worker always talk about how we should have met before based on the number of times we were in the same places during our lives and his brother works at UNC and I knew of him before I ever came back home to meet the brother.  :)  Houston, Wichita, Florida, North Carolina.  We might have walked by each other many times before.  Great family to know on all levels.  Another connection - their daughter used to work in College Counseling field as a rep from a college.  Met her at my former school #1 and 2.  The father did share with me that when he was setting up a dinner at one of the outdoor venues for the boys at former school #1, a bear got INTO his car and ate some of the dinner supplies.  He had to call the security people to help get the bear moving along his way.  

Stopped into the new ice cream store on the end of my walk - ice cream and a wall of penny candy choices you can bag and buy.  Not sure if I will be drawn back in.  Reading Ben Franklin and watched Open Mind AND my Daily Stoic this a.m. -  Are you Responsible?  Somebody should do something about that…  Just reading about Franklin's work with lending libraries, volunteer fire departments and police protection.  He felt responsible to put "associations" together to meet the needs of people.  Mentioned the "progressive tax" he put in place for people to help offset cost of police - paid based on value of your real estate.  On The Open Mind - Author Alexandra Hudson discusses her new book "The Soul of Civility."  Decency in Decline.  Love that when thoughts converge to help me focus - for a minute at least.  Also watched Firing Line where Doris Kearns Goodwin talked about her book.  My landlady is reading it now and she said she would pass it along.  Talk about being in the right place at the right time - her and her husband.  Husband coined The Great Society term for a LBJ speech.  

Today PA DC, Tuesday CA DC and IOWA DC, Wednesday EOLD discussion.  Have to keep my eye on the calendar for the Shoprite sales on Wed-Memorial Day.  Cherries, Corn, Watermelon...love this time of the year in the produce department.  I will do my usual Tuesday Sr Disc shopping, but will slip back at some point during the limited day sales.  :)
