July 2...

Library played big in my Tuesday.  Realized that the library card I leave in my car had suffered "heat stroke" during this last stretch of hot weather...so without thinking when the library lady said she could not get the card to scan and would I want a new card...I said yes.  As I walked home after picking up the book my niece told me she was reading with great enthusiasm, I realized I had a new card so lost a decade plus of my reading history that was on the other card.  I told one of the swim ladies who did not go see Thelma yesterday "how will I check and see if I had read a book already?"  But if that is my biggest issue.  :)  But picked up the book and onward and upward.  As I shared with my niece - Hope it is not too much for me.   :)  "For people want POWER, watch POWER, or want to arm themselves against POWER" is the on the book cover...  I will buckle in and start to read.

Listening to Lex and Ivanka this a.m.  :)  Not as inspiring as other Lex-es.  :)  Had to turn it off...switched to David Friedberg.  :)

So beside the library.  I had a very dismal $74/$25 day at Shoprite.  :)  Needed to stock up on coffee, TP, all the fruit available, Club Size Cheerios...It is going to be a rough $ few weeks with company.  Yesterday the "magnitude" of it became clear.  Sisters #1,4,6 are all due in next week.  #6 just for the Saturday a.m. memorial service for a family friend, classmate of #4.  And #1 in for her 55th high school reunion.  Wed-Monday.  TX friend - Jul 9 to 18.  Part here and I am thinking part at her sister's on the Cape.  As I told #1 on a call yesterday - I am gritting my teeth and throwing caution to the wind.  Sister #4 is thinking of taking an airbnb on Main St - which I did not know was an airbnb - for a night or two.  My apt with limited furniture, TX friend, no AC...she said it sounded like a fun option.  Did chores yesterday.  Will slice in apt cleaning between walk and pool is my goal today.  

Wife of former school #1 is reaching out to walk together.  Will meet up with her Thursday and see how it goes.  Reservoir walking trail was still closed due to tree damage.  That will determine where we will walk.  Will walk with family friend this a.m.  Will share what I have read in the book she lent me.  Death is but a Dream.  Incredible as to the life taken out of life by the medicalization of death.  

Had a back and forth in email with Executive Director of the Completed Life Initiative...I REALLY want to have a living room CLI@home event.  Would not work in my house.  Need to put some thought behind backing into a location in CT or then I thought my brother's house in NC.  He has a great house for anything...if I can figure out when I will be there.  That just came to me this a.m.  

Was not moved to go hear music last night.  I was too comfortable in my apt. to go outside and sit in the heat.  :)

Try not to get involved in the type of discussions that inevitably turn nasty. You know what topics to avoid and anyone who tries to drag you into arguing for and against must be made aware that you are not in the slightest bit interested in their views.

I will focus on the "big dreams", "get organized in order to manifest goals".  Today walk, swim.  No aqua fitness class tonight.  First week of the month + holiday falling in the mid...not a lot of schedule.  I will hope that I get to gather in my conversations the next two weeks.  I think TX friend will understand.  She can always spin off and spend time with sister #1 and her gentleman caller who will be airbnb-ing down the street starting a week from today.  Fingers crossed.

And the big news, my PD buddy who has reached his 20+ years at my town's PD so will take his max'd pension and told me yesterday that he has been offered a position at another department.  As I shared with him...WOWSER!!!!  Congratulations.  It will make for a long walk for me to get to your district ... but I have done nuttier things.  They are a lucky department.  He will make the transition in early August if all stays on track.  No more elderly checks for me on Thur, Fri, Sat.  :)
