Half way through 2025...

Red are son's lots, blue the ones he thinks might be available next.  I will ask him about it when he calls today. Each lot is about 40x110.  He reached out yesterday after I asked him yesterday what he was up to this weekend.  I had read the Detroit News yesterday but did not see where he might be drawn to.  Did find out why they had fireworks on June 23 and not July 4 - "split the difference between Canada and US Independence Days.  :)

Listened to another geripal podcast yesterday.  NY Times and Wall Street Journal articles also got me thinking.  Going to do some blog outreach today. "I am thinking of reaching out to Dr. Frederickson at UNC to see if she has a take on how to build a supportive EOL network one micro moment at a time. Micro-moments of positivity like this really can improve your well-being, said Barbara Fredrickson, director of the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Will think that through today.  EOL doesn't have to be a heavy lift either?

And I might reach out to one of the speakers on this podcast - Health and Wealth Shock. Thinking of a way it might fit into what we were talking about.  Today we talk about disruptive events, or health and wealth shocks.  We start with Lauren Hunt, who described the incidence and outcomes of hip fracture and hospitalization for pneumonia in a pair of publications in JAGS, comparing people with dementia who experience these events to people without dementia.  We then turn to social events, starting with Rebecca Rodin, who studied the effect of widowhood on mortality and function for people with dementia, cancer, and organ failure, published in JAMA Network Open.  Finally, we turn to Tsai-Chin Cho, who studied the impact of a wealth shock (loss of 75%+ of wealth in a short time period) on cognitive decline in 4 countries.  Tsai-Chin’s article, published in Lancet Healthy Longevity, found a tantalizing hint that countries with stronger safety nets had lower incidence of wealth shocks, and less of a deleterious impact of the wealth shock on cognitive function."

And Wall Street Journal had an article.  "I Used to Hate Talking to My Mother About Her Death. Now We Do It All the Time."  AND our local newspaper had a posting about a local group Solo Agers Connect.  Will reach out to them to.  Lots to do today for my volunteer "job".

Other than all the above.  Walked up to pool to watch final swimming lesson of family friend's grandson, then finished my walk.  Then to pool for my swim.  Moved my car back into my parking lot spot.

Try to be realistic about what you can expect from other people. Not everyone shares your drive and ambition, or your clear-sighted views of what needs to be done in the world, so make allowances for those of lesser talents and fainter hearts.

Love is in the air while Mercury and Neptune align, dear Libra, dissolving barriers so you can connect with others. Reach out to friends both far and wide, leaning into the aid of technology to keep even the most distant companions close. Romance and community should also be a priority. If you're in a relationship, hit the town with your sweetie. If you're happily single, embrace self-care with friends. If you're looking for love, take steps to find potential mates. Just be mindful of how quickly you share personal stories when the Leo Moon squares Venus this evening. You'll have a chance to smooth social rifts later tonight when Chiron stirs.

Your brain may be on one side of the fence today while your emotions are on the other, Libra. The challenge will be to find a working resolution between them. Your mind is moving toward a more sensitive and receptive approach, while your heart is in more of an attack mode. Unfortunately, these two energies don't normally work well together. Your job is to find a healthy balance.

Listening to the solo ager person interview as we speak.  Today - walk, swim, talk to son.  Last Saturday of June 2025.  We will see where the day takes me.  High temp today 78 degrees.  Have a good Saturday.
