6,541 posts, 6/27/2006...

Had to smile this a.m. as I was drawn to look back at "history".  June 27 2006 blog opening.  July 3, 2006 first post with this as my first words..."As a person who wants to turn the 6 degrees of separation into 2 or 3, being in the blogging world seemed like the place to be for me. I have always found that the more people I tell about what I hope to do, the better the chances that I accomplish my goals. If nothing else, when I say it or write it, it becomes more real. So as I share my daily thoughts and my long term plans, I will look forward to hearing back from both like minds and devil's advocates."

Highlighted what I said then and continue to say now.  My latest version from my latest volunteer blog post - "I tell anyone who will listen what I am trying to achieve. You never know when you will say something to even a total stranger, and the next thing you hear is “I know a guy.” Happened a million times in my work life. No reason it cannot happen now."  20 years...I need to beat the drum louder.

Yesterday - great walk in the sunshine and with only a down vest instead of my parka.  Ran into a family friend who I have known since post 1955 flood. Texted my landlord's sister and the person who made it possible for me to be living where I am to wish her belated HNY and check and see if all was going well with her daughter's pregnancy - Landlord's sister and my friend since I was 4 years old.  She let me know she is headed up this way from Florida next week.  And it is for a baby shower so sounds like all is on track.  She said maybe Thursday or Friday to get together.  I will tell her that the only thing on my paper calendar is Massage Thursday at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.  I will suggest a fancy coffee place for either day.

Watched my Chicago shows.  Half of latest GeriPal episode.  Will cue up L&O shows this a.m. Will reach out to sister #6 to see how the broken wrist re-entry week at school went.  Talked to TX/NM friend.  She is back in TX.  Will head to Austin to pick up husband at airport early Sunday a.m.  He has been in Mexico since NYD.

Only thing on my paper calendar for today - Mettle Health's The Work of Grief & Gratitude at 2 p.m.  Will walk before that.  Hoping for another sun filled walk.  45 the high temp for today!

There is a danger today that you could be too much of a nice guy and let people get away with things that are not good for you and probably not good for them as well. Pretend to be tough even if you don’t really feel it.

It may fall on you to take charge of pressing family affairs, dear Libra. As the Capricorn Sun and Mars unite, your ability to stay focused while others are emotional puts you in a position of authority, whether you like it or not. Cut through the nonsense to keep your home life moving smoothly. As Venus and Jupiter face off, you'll gain respect easily if you rule with compassion and grace. With Luna active in your sign, it won't be difficult to command attention when you need it. Though a harsh square with Mercury could stir up some pushback later today.

Are you in an especially adventurous mood, Libra? This is the sort of day when you can try just about anything new and still come out in one piece. Why not enroll in a marathon, take rock-climbing lessons, or drive to a place you've never been to before? Wherever you end up, you should find peace and a heightened state of awareness. Don't hesitate. If what you have in mind involves minimal risk, go for it!

Peace and awareness - I will keep that as today's mantra.  I do know I have nothing but choices.  Have a good Friday...where did this week go?
