The Giants might have messed me up on Sunday with my Super Bowl picks but the Gators came through for me last night on the BCS. I did go to bed at half time, but it looks like it was all over but the crying at that time for OSU. Florida was on my mind yesterday for another reason yesterday - the reunion weekend notice for my son's alma mater came in the mail yesterday and I wish I could send in my money and go! I love the setting of Flagler College! I might have to burn some of my vacation time with a trip there, but that would not fall into my "non-touch back" plan to vacation somewhere this year that I have never been before. But Florida looked good to me yesterday. First, I have my two planned vacations to work through.
Another "good" from yesterday was I picked up my new gas cap and the check engine light turned out - we will see if that works. BUT a "coincidence"...yesterday was a co-worker emailed the staff saying "free Consumer Reports - 2007 Automobiles issue free for the taking". So I took it and read it last night and was still happy with my choice to stay with my MAZDA preference based on the money I budget for car purchases. But depending on my check engine light, maybe my February North Carolina road trip needs to be my current car's farewell tour.
First 2007 book club meeting last night. I didn't have much to say. I did share that - using a phrase I heard used by sister #3 - most of the characters needed to "move-on.org" (i.e., get over themselves). But I had to admit that after to listening to the group, the author developed the characters deeply enough that it did get a rise out of me. "I hate that!" She got me. I did forget to mention that Oliver was the only character I did not get worked up about so I felt I missed something. Book Club is a good thing.
Sister #3 also let me know about a show in Brooklyn I will probably go to in February. I am thinking it was my first driving trip to NYC last year when I attended the 2006 version of this event. My thought is now is I will drive there, go to the show, then on to DC, then on to NC, then back for my February vacation. It might put my Jan/Feb a bit close together, but I am thinking that more of my co-workers may announce their departures in March and April and we have reunion and graduation in May and June, so early may be better than later to be away from my workplace. Drama in the workplace is always interesting to me. I just hope it gets nipped in the bud (or it may soon be in bloom). But I am also thinking that I might be seeing a piece of the puzzle...Monday marked my 60 days so I am still in the research stage of my workplace. Work is good (silly sometimes, but good) thing!
The friend in Houston who I have not seen since 1978 will be around when I get to town next week. I am very excited to see her. I am hoping my friend from College Station will come into town too since she met her when she was visiting me in Ecuador. I also have sister #4's 50th birthday dinner with sister #5 to look forward to in January. I also have a dinner with ex-co workers from my last former employment in the works. Another land clearing work party is Jan 27.
Sounds like some winter weather will be moving in just in time for my first vacation. That will make me feel good too. And my fingernails are looking good - for those who know me that is a big "good" signal to me. 2007 is feeling good to me.
Have a "good" day.
