Visit with sister #1

So much for planning for a family weekend. NYC group will not be up and sister #1 will be heading to NYC on Saturday morning to spend time with them. So I guess I am on my own after dinner tonight. I had invited sister #1 to our soccer game after school or dance concert tonight - but she is feeling a bit beat up with all the picking, probing and cutting she has had over the last two weeks in DC with all her medical tests and procedures. She looked a bit beat up with all the face work scraping. I guess living in tropical places for all the years she has lost some of its lustre over the last few days.

I do need to walk today. Yesterday my late start and imbalance caused me to do a mini-fast during the day, then to the funeral home for calling hours, then to parents for dinner with parents and sister #1, then stopping at Shaws and Big Y to try and find cider donuts for sister #1 to take to NYC with her for sister #3. No luck last night, but I will look again today.

My plan for today is work, walk, soccer game, dinner with sister and parents and then dance concert. Luckily everything is relatively close together. Have to work tomorrow morning - Saturday tour and interview day in our office - then sister #5 field hockey team's game at our competing all girls school near by, then no plan for the balance of the weekend. I guess I will not have any conflict to go to the concert at the church across the street on Sunday afternoon sponsored by a local arts group.

Interesting conversation with my sister last night about a 25+ yr State Department friend of hers who went to Iraq for a year. I guess it is not pretty the way they have to threaten senior State Department employees with "hinted" firing if they do not take the "invitation" to go to Iraq. I will be at the polls for our local elections on Tuesday, but still lots of time before we can affect change on the local level.

Think I will take advantage of my early start this a.m. and get going. Have a great Friday.
