Except for the football outcomes and St Louis losing in overtime against Temple (the SI.com on Majerus was great reading!), the day could not have been better - in my weird mind way. Time and energy worked for me at every turn. Left the house at 8:30 a.m.-ish and the game began.
1. Go to gas station to fill up the car - using the last $13.33 of my gas card I got for Christmas. Looks like I do about $100 of gas a month. For an idiot savant like me, having a tangible measure of that was "fun" for me.
2. Get to the office and get to work at 9 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. I have finished the stack of applications left on my desk and go upstairs just as the doors opened for brunch in the Dining Hall - french toast fingers, an egg, hash browns, bacon, orange juice (I passed on the chocolate or plain waffles or order your own omelet) - not exactly a health freak breakfast, but it hit the spot! It was also good because I enjoyed my meal with one of the English teachers, the Art Dept head and his daughter, and one of the Middle School Spanish teachers and her husband. Very good conversation.
3. 11 a.m. (didn't take me long to down all that food), I was off to the basketball game BEFORE I checked my voicemail from my co-worker saying that her son was sick and would not be playing. After I sat in the gym for a few minutes thinking maybe I was in the wrong gym, I went to the car and called her and got the message.
4. Off to the parents (I pass the school I was at on my way to their house, so no re-routing). Wash got done; the boss' postcards got done; piece of homemade apple pie and a cup of tea were consumed; and Sunday newspaper read.
5. Walked to the West Hartford Library and picked up my February book club book and enjoy the beautiful interior decorating of the new library which is the handy work of my neighbor (my friend from kindergarten). She did a beautiful job.
6. Back to the office for one minute. Drop off the postcards and I wanted to start my trip to my brother's from school so I could time how long it takes me to get there as I plan house sitting logistics in case I need to get to the house at a certain time to meet my niece. 12 minutes.
7. Off to my brother's for a great dinner and good news that they are going to put the two dogs in doggie day care so it will just be me and my niece! I was a bit apprehensive about me and the dog piece of my responsibilities...especially "un-trained" dogs.
8. Home by 7 p.m. to watch the first part of the Packers' game, Q&A AND responding to an feng shui article emailed to me by a friend which led to a quick "re-modeling" of my bedroom. At least NOW I have a reason why I have not had a date since I got home...my bed was on the same wall as the door. (I am reviewing bed placement since 11/16/96 to see if the theory holds for the balance of the drought - I would much rather place blame on bed placement rather than my abrasive personality or my not graceful aging...)
I am having a problem with how the politics are going. Only a couple of weeks until Feb 5.
As to today - I am off to work, unlike most people in the US world today. Not sure what is on the docket for this week. Board of Selectmen meeting on Wednesday night, Dance class field trip on Thursday, not sure what else.
Have a great Monday. I am completely energized after yesterday. Let's see how long it lasts or what I find to recharge as the week goes along.
