Saturday Classes day

I am used to going into the office on Saturday of late, but usually it is for the peace and quiet of getting things done with nobody around...today we have Board of Trustees meeting, Saturday classes for the girls and all my co-workers...no peace and quiet about today. But most everyone will be gone by noon-ish, so it will be OK. Yesterday I made myself get home by 7 p.m. - made it by 7:08 so that worked. I left the volleyball game while there was an injury time out for one of the visiting players - very unsettling scene.

Yesterday I felt like I was having a lite day until a CD arrived with 29 applications on it at 30-50 pages each...I will be sifting through those today and getting them to the appropriate counselor. Fun visitors and good phone calls.

Don't know if I am as uplifted by the news I finally got caught up on yesterday. I knew my stocks were taking a beating, but then this "free money" plan from Congress? I think I got $75 or so the last time they did this big giveaway. I cannot figure out how giving people $600-1,800 will initiate recovery. That seems like such a drop in the bucket. I know a lot of people that spend that kind of money on just a weekend of entertaining themselves. And I can't figure out where the money comes from when we are spending what we are on war, loan company bail outs, campaigning...I don't get it. Maybe I am better not making it home in time for the news.

I did find out that I missed the NBA D-League showcase in Boise ID this past week. That would have been a fun event and a place I do need to visit. I also watched a video of George and Coby Karl when George was in LA with his Nuggets and Coby was playing on their D-League team in LA. Looks like Coby is back on the Lakers' roster and JamesOn is on the Bulls' D-League Iowa team. Also got a GREAT article emailed me from SI.com on Majerus. How can you not love that man!!!

I have not seen any MLK events in the area this weekend. I was very impressed when I read the Chapel Hill list of events. That seems topsy-turvy to me - when I saw how much more committed people were to civil rights causes in the south than in the north. Maybe I have just not found the local energy sources in the time I have been home.

Cleaned house last night and I am feeling doing wash will be on my list tonight. We will see.

Have a nice Saturday.
