Snow Day Monday

I went and shoveled out at 5:30 a.m. yesterday, came in and took my shower and rolled right out of the parking lot and to school. All my other department co-workers took advantage of the day off and I took advantage of having the office to myself and no new mail so I could finish off some loose ends on some projects. Nice walk in a very light snow after work. Our school has a great sledding hill so lots of the girls and neighboring town people took advantage of it. Good day.

After my walk and before book club, I stopped by the parents. They had lost their electricity for a few hours due to the heavy snow on the wires outside. I wanted to make sure that all was back to normal. They also had some new OSJL gloves and radio headphones for me. I guess that I got my gift card money back from my gift to my dad.

Billikens lost in overtime to Dayton - better than their 20 pt game the other night, but still a loss. JamesOn was reassigned to the developmental league team in Iowa. Again, the good news is he is still with the team. At least in this way he will get to play. Lots of talk about the Manning brothers, the cold due in New England and Green Bay for the games this weekend.

Checked the Chapel Hill news this morning after I heard about Cate Edward's car accident. I know exactly where that intersection is. But that article also led me to the article about Ruby Dee speaking at the MLK celebration and the Law School moving to the "Chapel Hill North" a new area under development by UNC-Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill is a very happening place! Got a bit "homesick" reading all the news.

Peter Cobb is speaking to our faculty meeting tonight. Sister #4 sings his praises, so I am looking forward to it. I don't usually go to these meetings, but do go for special presentations.

Book Club was good. I walked up and back. The snow was beautiful with the streetlights. My Antonia by Willa Cather was our book. Everyone loved it - including me. Next book is History of Love by N. Krauss. The "One Book" for 2008 s Waiting for Snow in Havana by Carlos Eire. I need to start checking the Hartford Public Library programs.

I am getting a "late start" today. Better get moving. Have a good Tuesday.
