This week is finally moving along

It seemed to take awhile to get to Thursday this week. But I feel we are now making some motion toward tomorrow night's Admissions' wine & cheese! All the people who did NOT go to the Head of School's W&C last Friday are planning to come to ours. Should be fun. The boss has a good backyard for a party and it is right across from the school ball fields so people can just waltz down from campus after work.

Yesterday was fun. Nice lunch out on the patio with a co-worker. Then dinner out with an ex-co worker. Even got her to walk to dinner from the school she works at to Blue Back Square - my favorite shopping/eating area in West Hartford. She is not much of a walker, but people have trouble saying no to me when I suggest walking instead of driving.

Also got my stimulus check deposited yesterday. I am very anti the concept, but I decided not to do my silent protest and send it back. It will pay for the cottage at the beach in a couple of weeks - so I guess I should send "W" a thank you note for my beach vacation. I was going anyway, but now "he" is picking up the tab.

Baked brownies last night. Chips and salsa are already at the office for tomorrow. So I can go to the guitar concert - faculty and students - at school tonight and then to the Land Use Forum in town after that with a walk in between or I will walk to the Forum if time gets tight. Also found out that I can carpool with some other people in town for the Connecticut Obama supporters get together on Tuesday night. I will make some more brownies to bring for that.

More on the political front - they honored my wishes and did not nominate me to run for Democratic Registrar of Voters (a position my mother held before she became Town Tax Collector) but a family friend took the nomination and she is going to appoint me "Deputy" and then if our plan works she will "retire" at this time next year and I will be appointed to finish her term. That way I can get my new boss through her first year and wean everybody from having a workaholic Admin Asst. I am very excited about getting involved in town. I will have to resign from the Economic Development Agency, but we are having a problem keeping a quorum for meetings and I can be involved in specific projects AND be more informed about what is going on in town with this position. AND the Town Hall is only 1/2 a block from my apartment. I am a lucky girl.

I am looking forward to the beach vacation in June and road trip to follow. I don't know how far south I will get but we will see where my new car and my old energy get me.

A neighbor from when we were growing up is coming to town next week...I can't wait. I have not seen her or her husband since I visited them in Minnesota in the fall of 1971...I guess I better comb my hair.

Have a good weekend!
