What a Sunday!

On my walk home from church, I passed a neighbor who owns the building next door and he was looking for people to help him take some care of some awning work he needed to do. I told him to let me know when he got a critical mass of volunteers. I then went up to my apt to watch my talking heads' shows. It is strange how NON-celebratory it is feeling as Obama gets closer and closer to his critical mass of delegates. I will be curious to hear the conversation tomorrow at the state get together of Obama supporters.

After the shows, I went out to take my walk - but checked in with the neighbor again. He was not ready for help yet, so I went on my walk. It was a beautiful walk. Then when I checked in - he was ready. His ex-wife and her boyfriend were coming by so we had our critical mass. It is always amazing to me how ex's could or would stay in contact...she lives in my building and he lives and owns the building next door and there are times when I will come home and he and his girlfriend and she and her boyfriend are having a glass of wine out of in front...amazing to me. But back to the awning. We got the chore done and by that time had collected a crowd on the street - my friend from next door (the chore coordinator's sister - so I have known both of them for 50+ years), their aunt, the chore coordinator's girlfriend. My friend decided last night would be a good one to walk to dinner at a little town restaurant. So that made a plan for the night. After the chore, I went back up to the apartment and started reading my June book club book - Paris to the Moon. Very interesting. I read about half before my neighbor called to say, "let's go." It is a new thing for me to have someone to walk with - so it was a nice treat all around.

Dinner was fish and chips for me, sitting outside on the picnic tables. It was great. My neighbor's daughter drove over to claim her free dinner. Then she drove home and we hit the streets - very nice way to spend 3 hours on a beautiful night. AND I got home just in time for an incredible Q&A show!!! Colman McCarthy. I need to get a book he edited: Strength through Peace. I was mesmerized.

As you can tell - good day - never got in my car (one of my goals for the day), saw lots of people, got lots of exercise, relaxed with a book. Feels like a good start to the week and a fun week to look forward to.

Email came back, but I am glad I set up the secondary email on comcast. Always nice to have a communication safety net. I need to find out about wireless at the beach house...

Have a great week.
