Hosptial again, but no West Side Story replay

I was a bit tentative going into the hospital last night. I did not want to face mother's former roommate and her family, but the patient had been moved by the time I got there. Good news.

Mother seemed more alert and less droopy yesterday. Lots of doctors came in to see her and we heard what we wanted to hear from the cardiologist and neurologist. I called the Patient Relations office to voice my concern about the incident with the guests and the fact that sister #3 was having problems getting the right people to talk to her so that we could keep moving forward. I don't know what happens to people who don't have someone there all the time in the hospital room. Sister #3 has been keeping a log now because of the number of doctors in and out of the room. I think the cardiologist was a bit intimidated by her "notebook". As my nursing friend said, "good". She has told me all along to continue to be the squeaky wheel.

Sounds like mother may go back to rehab today or tomorrow. We will see.

I got to work at 6 a.m. and worked through the Open House resulting paperwork. Need to make some dent in the November 11 Open House requests, financial aid letters, inquiry forms and sending out admission packets. Good news is the boss is on the road through tomorrow.

I sent a quick email to the AHOS about what I thought was a pretty lackluster open house event and my feeling about the new boss. And the next thing I know I am getting an email from the HOS about "thanks for your help with the open house and how are things going for you this year"...she opened the door so I shared with her about mother and the fact that "the boss and I are not a match made in heaven, but as long as she is pleased and the admission counselors are pleased - I am just the data entry person"... I will be curious to see if she approaches the counselors for their input. If not, that will be a sign to me that status quo is working for her or she has bigger fish to fry.

But on the fun side, looks like the Woofmen reunion will happen in November. I hope all will be at a point where I can attend that get together. I was not an official Woofman, but I think they will let me come if I can.

I had a funny scene at the convenience store buying sister #3 her Newport Lights. The kid behind the counter asked me, "is this a first time thing for you?" - I said, no, it is for my sister, but I think he thought that sounded a bit like, "No, not for me but for "a friend"."

Better get going. Want to do my 6-3 hours again at work. Have a good Wednesday.
