Open House Day

Yesterday was a transition day. Work was again productive from 7-10 a.m., then into the parents to join sisters #1,3; niece #2 and soon to arrive #3's partner and her son & dog. Her son on his way to UMASS where he is a senior (Pres of the Student Body). The rest of the day saw sister #5 and niece #4; brother and niece #1 & 3. And the icing on the cake was my son. His look always makes it exciting when he appears. And he had not seen my parents for awhile. Good all around to have him come up for no matter how short a time.

Mother was "foggy" all day. I don't know if it was a staff/med timing change because of the weekend or just being worn out. We will see how things to today. Sister #3 left yesterday, so it will be my father, brother and me for "family coverage". With the open house at school today, I will take the 4-bed time shift. Hope the lid stays on till then. Sister #3 is due back at some time this week and sister #1 will be back for Oct 18-23 until she heads to parent weekend at Smith College.

My son had a great report on his life and times. He is in a quandary about the girlfriend...I told him whatever works for him works for me. No matter how much I life the girlfriends - HE is my concern.

Sister #1, niece #2 and son and I had a great dinner at The Elbow Room in West Hartford. Everybody felt like different food, so their menu worked and it is close to the rehab place and parents' house.

My son took the Chinatown bus up - can't beat the price but I did have to adjust my pick up place since I went to the regular bus station and he was in the middle of the very small Chinatown area of Hartford. Then after dinner we tried to get Peter Pan bus from Hartford to NYC, but timing did not work so I drove him to the train station and it worked perfectly. We got there at 8:35 p.m. and the next train was at 8:55 p.m. Perfect. The only bad thing was I forgot to get "slippage" so I will call the bank tomorrow to put some in there.

Well better get going. Want to get my stuff set up for the Open House before my other co-workers get to the office.

It is going to be a long day. But what is new about that.
