Email to siblings last night:
"Just left "the home" - mother seemed to have a good day. Visitors were wondering if I had been hallucinating the last 3 weeks as mother did her walking on her walker, we rolled her outside in the wheelchair to see a friend of the family's dog dressed up for the Doggie in the Window Halloween parade. We caused quite a stir outside.
Sisters #1 & 3 both checked in on their arrivals home. Brother and niece #3 made a pre-basketball game visit. A cousin made a quick visit and took a walk with me to Blue Back. What a beautiful day.
Mother loved her lunch. She wrote a note on the menu slip - "Very Good" - I hope it makes it to the cooks!
Another cousin called while I was walking with my cousin, so he got a unbiased opinion on the patient.
Stopped at the parents' house and father had made himself a "T-Bone steak" and french fries. I asked him if he was lonely with all his company gone and got a "not really" response. I hope he will go swimming in the a.m.
Sister #3's message board was very handy. Father and I got up every hour even if mother did not want to. I did 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.; Dad did 3 p.m. and due to the trip outside in the wheelchair to see the dog parade - mother asked if she could take a pass on 4 p.m. After dinner she was glad to have me gone and she and her aide will get her evening set up.
Hope I did OK today."
Other than "the home", I had a good morning at work. Got caught up on weekend emails and phone calls. No girls at school today - it is our Long Fall Weekend. Girls will be back tomorrow, classes start back up on Wednesday so today should be a good work day. No visitors due in. After I finished up in the office, I went on my campus walk for an hour. It was a beautiful weather day.
Good (ugly but good) day for the Jets, positive news for the Phillies, gas prices, but politics and economy are problematic for me. I am going to try and get to a debate tonight - Chris Murphy and his opponent. Hope that will work. Have to fax my mother's absentee ballot application to their town hall.
Asked my co-workers for a pep talk via an email yesterday morning. Our application deadline is February 1, 2009. Nov 1-Jan 31 of of last year's application cycle is a blur for me but I know it was not a happy time for me - and no "home" aspect to last year...I need to know that everybody is "buying what we are selling". Things naturally get distracting once Nov 15 comes around through Christmas. Doesn't leave much time for full focus?
Friend reminded me that I have two weeks to find my tape for the Nov 8 get together. That should work. This coming up Saturday my hometown is playing our arch rival (from back in the day) in football for the first time since the 60's! Our town disbanded football and switched to soccer. But is has been brought back over the last two years. Old time rivalry AND political season - it should be quite a circus. I will try to go for some of it.
My school soccer team won against their arch rival on Saturday. I am very happy for my co-worker/soccer coach.
Better get going. My computer is thinking that we changed our clocks already...so I feel I have lots of time to dilly dally, but I don't.
Have a good Monday. I will try to enjoy the weather again today.
