Sounds like my son did not join my family in the NYC area for Thanksgiving dinner. We will see if he joins up with us today. The goal is to get on the train between 8-9 a.m. this morning and get back on the train by 7-8 p.m. tonight. Going to Brooklyn is on the list of things to do. Sister #1 and 3 will figure out how to get me, sister #4,5,and niece #4 there.
Westerly RI Thanksgiving went well. No medical alerts from either parents so we got through the day without incident. I did have to spend some minutes thinking about our family last night - such a disconnected group on so many levels. Brother and his wife and two children are the only normally connected family. The rest of us - not so connected. Of the sisters - two never married, two divorced, one same sex marriage that happened as soon as it was legal in MA. One never married with one daughter. Both divorced with one child each. Single sex marriage - two step children. All the sisters passed a lot of baggage along to the next generation. I am amazed my son is still walking upright after living with me all those years. I think that is one reason the holidays are so difficult for me - brings all that "regular family" thinking to mind AND it is cold outside! Maybe if Thanksgiving and Christmas happened during the Spring or Summer it would be easier for me?
Better get ready to travel again. Then a few stationary days before I am back in the car on Wednesday to head to NC. I am pushing myself to my limit during the cold season.
Have a good day after Thanksgiving.
