Woke up to a great Jackie Lawson (sp) e-card from my cousin. Why is that most people in the world can "be" in Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas and I am in "I hate Thanksgiving and Bah Humbug" mode? But the card did get me off on a good foot. I even emailed my co-worker who I escorted to the hospital last week to thank her for letting me "practice" my nice/helpful side. It has to be an emergency situation before it comes out! Oh well.
Interesting cosmic guidance today and last night's fortune cookie:
"November 25, 2008
Good ideas will flow from you today. It's as if a regulator in your brain has been disabled and all your thoughts come tumbling out at once. Your insights into what is going on in the world, and why, will inspire those around you. You're a catalyst for change."
And my fortune cookie: "If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." Could not be better as I try to decide to go big or small with my next personal change.
I don't know what drew me to my dumpling place, I can't remember the last time I was there. But after I walked, I wanted to work on my resume and couldn't get in the mood at the office so I took my notebook to the dumpling place. I think it is a comfortable place for me. The regular waiter was there (I think he is the owner, cook, waiter, cashier, etc.) and he asked me if I was sure that was enough food when I ordered my "one egg roll, order of steamed vegetable dumplings". More than enough food. I also went to another comfortable place last night - the library. I wanted to pick up a book to read this weekend. The Magician's Assistant - another Patchett book. I hope I like it as much as the other two of her books I have read recently.
But all the comfort led to a great night's sleep (not that sleep is an issue for me, but I did not get out of bed until 5:30 a.m.). I am usually at the office by now.
Today, I need to get to Big Y and finish my shopping - cheese, grapes, snowflake rolls. Tomorrow after work I will go into the parents to cook the turnips.
Better get ready to go. I am keeping my eye on Friday/NYC weather. Please no rain.
Didn't hear from my son so I am thinking he read my input and moved on to what he wanted to do. He is such a bigger thinker than I am. I might have ruined the holidays for him, but at least I did not squelch all his imagination. But I credit that to Southampton Montessori not to me!
Have a good Tuesday.
