A couple of emails this a.m. One to family, one to my neighbor.
Family:
"Popped in to the parents' last night to check and see how people celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary...didn't look much different than any other night. Mother asked Father if she could have a drink to celebrate - NO. They did enjoy watching the cleaning lady do her magic in the house. Physical Therapy person due in today - mother's only complaint is her shoulder still hurts. I told her to make sure she brings it up today. No matter how "less pain" it is, that is what the PT person is coming to help her with. I am on tap to take her to her heart doctor on Friday. Father realized that he has an appt at the VA on Friday a.m. and my brother's truck may not be the easiest for her to get into. Father may be home in time, but I am back up for the 3rd body.
Mother is having her vital signs checked daily by a bunch of machines in the house and then she answers 3 questions the machines ask her. I guess she forgot that part yesterday and she moved away from the machine, so Father jumped in and answered the questions for her...I am amazed the machine did not immediately send EMT's to the house. God knows what he answered - or what he thought the questions were...
I did notice that father is back to his ice cream with chocolate sauce after dinner again. When I saw him preparing his dish, I did note that he had stopped that for awhile when mother was gone and he said that he had taken an evening ice cream hiatus. Everyone deals with stress in different ways.
Another trying experience at UCONN Medical Center Tuesday afternoon. My brother rushed in to get them to the appt on time, and then they were kept waiting for 45 minutes for a 5 minute visit.
Cousin called last night when I was at the house. She reported that her son was at Obama's event in Chicago on Election Night! The next thing we will hear is he is part of the transition team. He picked the right year to move to Chicago!
Looks like I am taking the parents to sister #4's for Thanksgiving. We will see if sister #5 and her daughter will be joining us. Sister #3 will be hosting a dinner in NYC. Cousin is dining out with her group in coastal CT. I have yet to broach the subject with my son. I am thinking of going to NYC the Friday after Thanksgiving - maybe I can buy him lunch that day. I will be checking the weather for that weekend to see if it is going to be friendly for travel.
Have a good weekend."
To my neighbor:
"I am putting Dec 12 on my calendar. But also if you want to pick a night for next week. I have been craving Little City Pizza in Simsbury - I have Book Club on Monday but do not have any other night assigned. Mother is settling in - cleaning lady, physical therapist, visiting nurse - all checking in. I have to take her to a doctor's appt on Friday. I was in there last night - their 59th Wedding Anniversary - YIKES! Would have been 28th for me this Saturday, but that is YIKES on a whole different level.
Happy Thursday.

Boss out of the office again until next Tuesday! I am happy. I passed on U of H last night. I just wanted to go home after my work, walk and visit with the parents. Oh well. I do need to get on an out and about schedule again. Our soccer team lost last night so I do not want to see my co-worker/soccer coach today...
Have a good Thursday.
