Back in the frozen north

Not happy about the Vikings game last night, but I will try to let the last few days keep my mood up!

Didn't realize it had been so long since I wrote. Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun...lots happened. I guess I should have taken notes. In a nutshell - nice place surrounded by nice people who make me feel like a million dollars. But some details.

Wed and Thursday at the Inn were great. I had stayed in some nice hotels in my day, but I don't think 5 Diamond/5 Star has been a part of my past. Now I know why we encouraged our customers to stay there when they were coming to look at real estate! I almost turn me into a conspicuous consumer! Dinner on Wed and Thurs at a favorite pizza place and Squids. Squids is the restaurant my son and I went to for many major life event celebrations when we were in town. I went from one 5 Diamond location to another when I went to stay with friends on Friday and Saturday nights! Maybe no chocolate on my pillow or port wine waiting for me each night, but I did not feel any fall off in care! Down to waking up for another of my early morning departures on Sunday a.m. to find the coffee going and a piece of homemade banana bread for me to take on my trip. You can't beat that!

The Saturday party (the motivation behind my trip) did not let me down. Saw lots of people and enjoyed my afternoon. Another big enjoyment was a Friday trip to the UNC Basketball Museum. I was crying as I watched some of the videos. That sports' stuff always gets me! The school did a great job!

Sunday travels were as uneventful as the trip down. Stopped for brunch with my sister in Arlington VA but was still home by almost dark. It was sad seeing snow as I moved up the coast, but I guess it is lucky that it is already December 7 and there is just a sprinkling.

So glad I went on my trip but also glad to be back to start "Life, Part ___?". I have a cover letter to write, ROV work to do, volunteer job work to do, walk to pick up the mail being held at the Post Office, get ready for some meetings tomorrow... "retirement" is not as restful as people said it might be.

Need to reach out to local friends to have them help me use up my restaurant gift certificates.

Here is to a good first week of the rest of my life.
