"My first non-hostile encounter with the UCONN Med Center - Dr. ____ (he was very comfortable complimenting himself but I did have to agree with him on this one) and father had a positive experience. Father was very happy with the result. And - of course - had everyone involved amazed by how fast he was back and ready to go at ANY age, but at 91 they were amazed. Mother was happy because "her boy" came in and had his coffee with her at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday while I took the father.
I was more impressed by the service in the waiting room at this part of the hospital. Coupon for a free drink in the cafeteria. Snacks and a drink circulated through the waiting room at 7:30 a.m. for those people with the "be there by 6 a.m. patients". I was very happy. I did not let my disagreement with all the surgery that full room meant was going on to get that full waiting room by 6 a.m. (I am sure every morning). Not a very healthy looking group and I know they were there for a reason, but it looked like some of their ailments might have been "self-inflicted wounds" based on some lifestyle choices.
So onward and upward. Father was planning on heading to the pool this a.m. Life goes on (and on, and on...) Have a good Wednesday."
My report to siblings on my father's slice and dice procedure. In my 6 a.m., patient home by 9:30 a.m. day. Worked for me. I got to take my "vacation 4 hours" from regular work to do the father transport, then to VSW, then to regular work - "Just in time"
Balance of the day - walk, swim, stop by library, home, news, in bed to read. I had the same type of Monday. Walking and swimming and sleeping. I had to be at my parents' house by 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday so I gave in to early to bed - not that I ever fight it. I am happy to follow my body's signals as to eating and sleeping. My goal now is the hydration piece. I need to be drinking way more water with my current exercise regime and the heat.
Company coming through town tonight on their way from Maine back to North Carolina. I am looking forward to that. Texas travelers have delayed their travels back. Might see them this weekend. We will see.
Got my REI cash back check yesterday. Not the kind of amounts I got when my son was living home or when I used to charge his tuition (I pay my bill of every month so no finance charges but yes to the cash back) but I still like it when I get my check in July each year.
Better get going. Stuff waiting on my desk.
