Stoic advice :)

I think I have a pic that does not relate to the right time period or philosophy, but...from my Daily Stoic from Saturday email: PASSAGE OF THE WEEK: We will stagger under the weight of all this. We will struggle and break. All we can do, the Stoics tell us, as Hemingway wrote, is try to be strong in the broken places. To focus on how we respond, what we do about it, to who we can become for having gone through it.

“You are mortal. So go play with your kids, go apologize to your brother, tell that person you love them. Speak out about the things you think are important. Stop sweating the things that don’t matter. Stop deferring what you know you were meant to do, what you know is right to do. Don’t be arrogant, be humble — realize that you cannot assume that you will get 6 months from now, let alone 6 years. While you are blessed with this life, use it.

I love the phrase "try to be strong in the broken places".  So that sent me into a thinking Saturday. :)

Yesterday - listening to Lex and Mark Cuban...what a guy that Mr. Cuban.  Walk.  Read Jobs.  Wrote some more notes in my travel notebook.  Will move into my Spring action season when I get back.  Fingers crossed.

Email last night from TX friend.  She shared about sharing my poem at her granddaughter's memorial service.  Also it was release day for a NC friends' blog and it was about the gifts of writing poetry.  I wrote this to them in the comments section.  :)  Can't remember how many years ago the The Sixty-Minute Poet was put in my hands, but it opened the floodgates for me to put the hesitancy aside and just write. And recently I wrote a poem for a friend I have known my entire life who suffered a death in her family and she is reading that poem at the memorial service today. Being reminded on this particular day of the gift of poetry in my life - synchronicity at its finest. Thank you.

Had to smile when I thought I would connect the Pope not going to the Colosseum to my son not getting in.  Wonder if the Pope went for pizza too.  :)

If you take the time and make the effort to spell out what it is you are going to be doing over the coming week there will be fewer misunderstandings with friends and colleagues and loved ones. Keep everyone who matters informed of your plans.

You should wake up feeling emotionally and mentally restored, dear Libra, thanks to a helpful aspect between the Sagittarius moon and healing Chiron. Unfortunately, stress could rise mid-morning when Luna squares off with Venus, especially if you've fallen behind on to-do lists. Consider asking a loved one for help if you need an extra hand, but manage your expectations. Allow your flirtatious side to shine through when Mercury stirs later today, elevating your wits and ability to charm others. Carve out time for relaxation from the comfort of home once the moon enters Capricorn and your solar fourth house tonight.

Your thinking is solid and clear today, Libra, but other people could challenge your mental power. Don't let others put seeds of doubt in your head about the way you approach a problem. Keep your mind open to alternative solutions, but don't beat yourself up for your current mental track. You might need to modify your strategy, but don't sacrifice your principles or values.

Today clean apt in prep for trip, finish packing,  Walk to Unionville.  Landlady dropped off chicken soup yesterday so meal #2 is taken care of.  :)  Tomorrow a.m. I will be at Comm Ctr to pick up travel computer, head to sister's.  Tuesday we head south.  Have a good Sunday.  Last day of March 2024.
