It was a bit warm :)

But hot did not keep me from any of my appointed rounds.  :)  As usual I should have written down what I listened to yesterday a.m....  Holiday today.  Not sure what that means to my day, but am glad that money came in for IRA transfer yesterday so got that taken care of pre-holiday.  Chores - dishes and clothes.  Shoprite $25/$27 day!  Hot walk but not bad.  CA DC and IOWA DC.  Good group at both.  Pool "late" but my swimming buddies were still there.  Mentioned my being late due to DC.  One of the ladies brought up she just heard a new term - death doula.  I had to smile.  Briefly, Perfectly Human by Alua Arthur.  .  Will put that on my lift.  In CA DC the author of a book was there - The ElderGarten: A Field Guide for the Journey of a Lifetime.  Talk about vocabulary - how can we be a country of "Elders" rather than "overrun with old people".  Someone spoke about CA and the have and have nots of opportunity for options in their dying process.  MAID for those with means, one women in the group talked about one of her clients as a social worker stepped off the BART platform.  He could not get comfortable with the options he had to get the help he needed/wanted.  Sort of like the lady with the purse I had spoken about before flying off to Switzerland. A very "have" option.  Again a vocabulary thing - suicide versus MAID/VAD.

Also was introduced to "boommates"...will take a look at that.  Silvernest.  :)

Family friend's husband called to see if I wanted to go to lunch in Riverton yesterday...I was on 202 and not QUITE in shape to go anywhere...he said he would see if his schedule would work for the outing today...  Wife is up at her family farm in upstate NY until tonight.  We will see.  I don't remember ever going to Riverton.  We will see if that materializes for today.  Would mean I miss EOLD... What will be will be.  

Tonight is supposed to be the first aqua fitness class.  They cancelled the adult swim option last night because of extreme heat...we will see if they cancel class. 

Cleaning apt is on my list for today - Clean, EOLD or lunch, Walk, Swim, class tonight.  We will see how it all unfolds.   Finished Box last night, started Winspear this a.m.  :)

My Daily Stoic today talked about beautiful language versus beautiful acts so I guess getting the "right" vocabulary out there is just the first step... It’s wonderful to celebrate these principles from the Stoics and the Founders. It’s wonderful to note the moments of historical progress like Juneteenth. But we have to remember that beautiful language pales in comparison to beautiful acts. We have to turn these words, these ideas into deeds. We can’t just talk about them, we have to be about them. And not living up to them or doing something about them—as was the case with slavery in Rome and America—is ugly. Marcus knew this but fell short…damning himself with his own words in Meditations, that “you can commit an injustice by doing nothing also.” Make sure you’re not guilty of the same.

It is an interesting start to my thinking this a.m.
