Walking up to a 3:33 a.m.  Will see if action opps appear today.  Nothing on my paper calendar but going to be a great wandering day with the weather.  

So yesterday...watched my 3 Chicago shows.  2.5 before I headed to AAA for my license renewal work. On way to AAA stopped at walk up at BOA to cash cat tending check.  Whole AAA work was less than 15 minutes.  Lady did look at the first picture she took and said - "maybe we should try that again"...I did take the 8 year option so she felt that looking at that first pic for 8 years would be hard.  :)  I don't expect to be driving for 8 years, but went for the 8 over 2...  I saw the Medicare $90 in my bank in the morning so I thought that was a sign to just do it.  So with that $90 and my cat tending $, I got Even Stephen with pumper upper, power cord and license.  Getting ahead?...not my style.  :)  So in car to BOA, AAA, couldn't think of any other stops, watched end of 3rd Chicago show, walk, sister #6 called.  She was with sisters 1 and 4 on the Cape.  #4 took the ride she had asked if I wanted to go with.  Walking around looking at shops and Capt Parker's for dinner...no draw there.  

Today - L&O 2 shows to watch from last night.  Am thinking I will be locked out from watching CBS shows with the new Sundance configuration, but will try on Saturday a.m. to watch Boston Blue.  Might be good for my brain and soul if I can't watch that show.  :)  So watch L&O, walk.  Will see what else falls into day.  Will so my Saturday walk route today since I will do Friday route tomorrow to work with the W&T book club.

Feels like another "action day" :)

This pic is for my son.  While he and I were on the phone yesterday, he got a text from a lady he had had a couple of dates with...no mas.  Friends but no romance was her decision...I had hoped for a different outcome and I hope that he did not inherit "my gene" about not making a meaningful place in my life to commit to any relationship.  Living alone - I have made it work and have had a very interesting life, but never committed to being there for another person - in a girlfriend/boyfriend, husband/wife way...over 70+ years...not traumatic in a what happened way, but unknown as to what could have happened.  Want a different outcome for my son.  Time will tell. 

Yesterday - cleaned apt, walked with family friend, EOLD - speaker had to reschedule so it was just an "ask us anything" session by the facilitators and it was interesting.  Then I took a second walk - walked to library to drop off Krueger and pick up two more books.  Holiday on Monday...had to be prepared because I think the "Don't Be Evil" will be a quick read.  Just like the whistleblower at one tech giant, this is intriguing as to what those hip and happening and money printing companies are like on the inside.  

Today - 9 a.m. license renewal AAA appt, then bank. Guess I will go for the 8 versus 2 year renewal - that will make it completely Even Stephen as to money in for cat tending and money out for pumper upper, power cord, license renewal.  :/  Will check and see if I got my $90 medicare $.  Fingers crossed.  :)  Will see about watching Chicago Wednesday shows.  Hope the technology of that has not changed since last season.  More fingers crossed.  Son, money, Chicago.  :)

Stand back from what you are working on and try to see it from both a higher and a wider perspective. It’s not that you are doing it wrong, but if you give yourself more options, the results will far exceed what you managed to get done before.

Action day Tuesday

Not sure what got me going yesterday but I checked off a lot of boxes.  Ran dishwasher. Finished Krueger. Started "Don't Be Evil".  Voted - state now has universal absentee ballots AND early voting. Bad government that we have both...but nobody stepped back and said - "if this passes, we don't need that" in time enough. Works for me since I live right next to town hall.  Sent some vacay money to son for his trip with his father later this month and to "cover" all the holidays between now and end of year.  I am not a presents kind of gal. Walk. Swung by swimming lady's to see how trip to AZ went and get my cat tending money.  Embarrassed that she pays me, but with tire pumper upper, power cord, license renewal...I will take it.  Swung by the flower bridge to take a picture to send to sister #1 since she funds the pot in memory of our parents. Talked for an hour...so not me...with sister #4.  She wanted to know if I wanted to go to Cape with her this weekend to see sister #1 and 6.  I declined. She closed down her pool yesterday. Seems like a lot of $ and work for a season that is Memorial Day to Oct 1.  Oh well.  Not mine and not mine as to $ or work.  Decided to not "go to" the Death Sangha last night.  The 8 p.m. start time is "too late" now that it is getting dark so much earlier.  Had a call from a NC friend who is in memory care at the CCRC...I thought her husband had said she was not with her phone or email...it was a very lucid and aware conversation and her sadness was palpable...will be curious if I hear from the husband if she shares with him that she called me.  So painful for me.  

Talked with sister #4 about the $90 to old people...her friends got it, I have not, she had not.  I will be on the lookout.  

Chicago shows premiere tonight...will have to get that on my viewing schedule for tomorrow a.m.  :)

Today - clean apt, walk with family friend, EOLD -  Rooted Until the End: Community, Place and the Art of Dying Well with Catherine Campion.  AND today I crack open the orange marmalade I bought awhile back! For my egg and toast breakfast rotation.  Big gastro day!  :)  Tomorrow - license renewal, bank to cash cat tending check, will think about whether there is anything else I need while I am out and about in car on a "non-car day".  Usually only go out in car on Mondays but realized that the upcoming Monday was a holiday so didn't know if that would work for the license renewal.  Saturday - W&T book club.  Nothing else on my paper calendar for the week.

Kept it simple yesterday

I am trying to remember my Monday.  No word from swimming lady as to key drop off time.  Lots of input from GA DC group.  But from the top - Washed clothes, dropped off latest finished book at library, Shoprite $31.68/$28.17 day 15 items all on sale.  And 10 of those items - 10 cans of tuna for $10.  Free lb of butter.  Could not pass on coffee and shampoo sale which pushed the $ higher but won't need to purchase for awhile.  :)  Then to ALDI $13.18 6 items.  Walked.  FEN CDF at 3 p.m. I passed on the NE FL DC.  Reached a point where last week and weekend had enough scheduled events. Doesn't take much to push my activity meter into the red zone.  :)  

On my paper calendar today - Death Sangha tonight.  Nothing else.  But my thoughts are - go fill out and hopefully vote absentee today after I check in at town hall.  Make my license renewal appointment.  Run dishwasher.  Walk. Will see what fills in the day.

Full dream night...I wonder why? :)

I had a planes, trains, and automobiles type dream.  It was hard trying to get to my destination.  Still in an airport or transit center when I woke up. DC Facilitator ending the Alameda DC last night with a question of "what is your passion" these days...well the group got an earful.  Still processing all I thought about as I went through the summit week with all that input.  I guess the group last night was my free integration session.  

Just sent swimming lady an email to see when she wants me to swing by with her key.  Not sure how much of the story of her visit to AZ I will want to hear, but I will see what comes up.  

So yesterday - finished A Vast Horizon.  Will drop that off on my walk today.  Started latest Krueger book - God's Country last night.  Late in the day sibling call from sister #1.  She and gentleman caller still have company.  Whale watch yesterday morning.  More shopping at S&S.  I just went in and added more coupons.  She does not look at prices, but I like doing it anyway.  :)  Walked to Unionville and back.  Alameda DC.  Small group - lots of activities in the Bay Area that kept many of the regulars away.  Tires did not need any air yesterday.  Might go to every other week check going forward.  :)

Today - Wash clothes, walk, book drop, see what swimming lady picks for drop off day/time, Shoprite/ALDI, 3 p.m. FEN CDF, tonight maybe NE FL DC if I am drawn to that at 6:30 p.m.  Have an assignment from blog boss.  :)  Thought full back and forth with GA DC people stemming from a question one posed to the group.  I need to go in and schedule license renewal appt at AAA.  I am thinking next Monday in conjunction with grocery shopping taking the car out.  Do have a plan to spend just enough at Shoprite to get the free lb of butter offer by buying the tuna and mouthwash on sale.  Balance of shopping - not much - at ALDI.

So much for my debrief/integration day

Integration seems to be a buzz word of late - I did not buy a ticket for today's integration session wrapping up this past week's summit, but I do plan on working through all the thoughts I had once the doors closed on the free part of the summit - 5 days, 2-90 minute sessions per day.  Free of charge.  Gift.  That gift in conjunction with conversation on Friday with son...lots to think about.  

But in the "sparks flew" - literally and figuratively...What was not priceless on Saturday morning after my "week that was" - was when at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday I was getting ready for Lansing DC and sparks flew literally and the power cord died for my laptop.  I called my local computer guy at 9:23 a.m., drove to his house (MAZDA came through for me) purchased a non-free new power cord and was logged on for the10 a.m. DC.  Led and guided.  High mark-up, but I was up and running in 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. That is worth something to me.  

So yesterday - cat tend, computer guy, Lansing DC, walk to Shoppes, cruised through Shoprite and ALDI to make sure I was informed for my Monday shopping trip, cat tend.  Watched an interesting Viewfinders episode on Ted Turner's  Vermejo in New Mexico. Per Mr. Google - Ted Turner's approximately 2 million acres of ranchland across the American West will remain protected from future development, parcelization, and commercial subdivision following his death.  Will do Shoprite and ALDI.  Free lb of butter if I spend $15 at Shoprite and they have albacore tuna 10 for $10, so that and something else on sale that I need.  Then to ALDI for grapes, bread, bananas.  

Today - Walk to Unionville, tire check with my pumper-upper, NO CAT TEND!  Pushing the reset button for October now that the cat tend is over.  Good news that this is the every other month first Sunday so Alameda DC later today.  Continuing to read A Vast Horizon...will see if I get to the end.

Wow, what a "content" day AND it is already 5:37 a.m.

So 7:32 p.m. to 5:33 a.m...Some people talk about things that keep them up at night but I lean more to my long sleeps as giving myself LOTS of dream time and it was full from beginning to end was the feeling I woke up with.  All kinds of people wrangling with all kinds of challenges, but the I felt I was there in all the scenarios just to be present EXCEPT for one scene where I was being challenged to get out of clothes to be able to jump into a great swimming hole and no one seemed to notice my struggles.  And the person who did stop to jump and was waiting for me to get there was one of my former school #2 bosses...  I am thinking that my brain was busy processing all the input from great speakers I heard this week at the online gathering I was fortunate to be at.  And that is just the feeling I have about the dreaming phase of my yesterday.  :)

As to my awake part of Friday - Cat tend (today is the last day!!!!), walk, son called while I was on my walk, TX/NM friend called while I was on my walk, Session 1-Day 5, cat tend, Sister #6 called-she is off to Atlanta to see her gentleman caller this weekend and she was asking me about some options for one of her teacher buddies who is trying to reenter the US Independent School realm after 3 or 4 years at a school in Switzerland, Session 2-Day 5-FINALE.  So much that I want to write about as to where I journeyed this week.  All without one IRL encounter...but many "encounters".

Son's conversation covered a food pop-up he was cooking for at a spot near his house, he did share that his 2-dates-so-far person is a hairdresser...as I told my NC friend, I would have loved a mechanic but if you know the "looks" I and my son carry into the world...maybe a hairdresser is a good thing.  :)  He also shared he wanted me to keep him informed on how he could be involved with any inspiration that comes to me from this week.  This baby boomer how people die deal seems to be "a thing".  And with the Millennials' lean into the experiential - maybe a boomer and a Millennial could be a good coupling to find a niche...  

I texted the swimming lady to say I am on for today and will pass the baton to her for her arrival back in town later tonight.  I will keep my feelings quiet for now as to old people and pets and her 90-year old BIL still taking surgery as a route to .... what?

Planning a long walk to Shoppes area today.  Pick of the weekend as to weather.  So watch All-in, cat tend, Lansing DC, walk, cat tend, call it a day!  Got confirmation that Alameda DC is on for tomorrow.  Two good DC's to help me see what comes up that I want to share after the info overload of the week.  Be present with the people I am with in the DC and be present with calm as I wander.

Angel numbers and more... :)

I have been barraged by angel numbers of late. Couldn't ignore it again when I woke up at 3:33 a.m. today. :) This has been quite a week with the The Death Inside The Death Summit. When death hits family dysfunction...  Each day the speakers have been so worth listening to.  Today is Day 5 of 5.  Next week will be interesting as to how I "craft" a new daily schedule.  Having this AND my cat tending has worked well.  7 a.m. to cat, chore of the day, walk, session 1 at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. cat tend #2, eat meal #2, read/watch news/CREATE TV episode whichever draws me in, session 2 at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. end-o-day for me.  :)

So summit over today, swimming lady/cat owner back Saturday, 20 days until TX/NM friend arrives in town.  I need to keep a keen eye on what I do with these 20 days in prep for people.  :)  Sisters #4,6 are due to town on Oct 24.  Good dose of anticipatory anxiety popping up.  :) It is going to be jarring for me - timewise, moneywise, exercise wise...For some reason AGAIN Oct 15-Jan 15 are tricky times for me in my Greta Garbo "'I want to be let alone."  :)  I take solace in the summit, my tire pumper upper machine, and the positive developments in my son's life.  The last one with deepest meaning.  I will keep the good thought that his life will begin a complete and total "up and to the right" progression as his father's did at the same age my son finds himself at.  

So yesterday - finished A Fortune of Sand - no classic, but enjoyed all the Detroit history and geographic references, cat, walked, session 1, cat, session 2.  Was not called in to help family friend with grandson coverage while she went to a doctor's appt.  Phew!  Did start A Vast Horizon.  I seem to be going back and forth with non-fiction and fiction. 

Today - last day of summit, next to last day of cat tend, temp to be almost 80...I will spend as much time outside as possible.  :)  

Put some more reward dollars on sister #1's S&S shopping.  Looks like it will be another close to $1000 worth of grocery shopping for her and her gentleman caller and their company this summer vacay time.  YIKES!  My budget for the month is that number minus a zero.  :)  I do enjoy my little game of clipping coupons and converting her points into dollars.  :)

Don’t waste time trying to make sense of your actions because they are motivated by a deep desire to get things done no matter what the dangers might be. This is one of those occasions when impulsive behavior could actually work well for you.

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and a lot more

Two thoughts this a.m. - 3 really - rabbit, rabbit, rabbit for Oct 1, eucalyptus batch that son gave me and hangs in my bathroom, and disco ball...Post equinox has been "churning" as to thoughts.  AND heard from son yesterday that - "Did u know the worker that messed up the pipes? Ha.  Is it a death cafe summit this week or bigger week than usual?  I went on a date other day and she just went to texas for her 40th.  They didnt like austin but everyone loves that hill country.  Things going good over here for most part ha.  Had Miami, NY, Mexico people all in town and a first date...."  I wish him love above all else.  It eluded me, but this is an encouraging development for him.  Fingers crossed, but no motherly advice from me...not my strong suit.  :)  On a different level, but he and I have both had a bit of a jolt as we moved into this next season.  Will see what October brings.  And his asking about the worker who caused the water outage, son knows I am "known" by police and municipal workers in town but luckily I did not know the "culprit".  

So balance of yesterday - cleaned apt, cat tend, walk, EOLD with very interesting new author.  Very intriguing life off the grid in Wisconsin.  And a journey he went on with his family.  On the Threshold of Worlds Tending My Father Before and After His Last Breath.  Then to next ZOOM session of day - Dr. Karen Wyatt: What I Wish Every Family Knew Before Someone They Love is Dying - hospice doctor, then cat tend #2 of day, then finished day with Surviving the Foxhole Nicole Heidbreder: Triangulation, and how to stay out of it - Navigating Family Dynamics at the End of Life.  For me, thought of what each sibling is going to bring to the table if we all revert to the personality and family "role" we had at 12 years old.

Heard from swimming lady.  She will be back Saturday night so I will be off duty as of Sunday a.m.!!!  Her BIL had surgery...90 yr olds having surgery.  You can imagine how I feel about that, but I will temper my share with swimming lady.  

Today - walk, Francesca Arnoldy: The Grapplehood of Grief - first presenter that I have no history on but if it follows the week, it will be thought full.  Evening session - Claire Bidwell Smith: Grief for the Family You Never Had. I know of Claire and the title...direct tie to my heart.  

I continue to enjoy my latest book - The Fortune of Sand.  The meaning of the title just hit me - DUH.  It is set in Detroit, in the 1920's and the family is "the windshield dynasty".  Sand - Glass.  :)

Well, we will see what ideas pop up today.  Yesterday was chockful.  And also lacking - water in my apt...You can imagine that got me spinning with my "carefree, relaxed" approach to life.  But more on that in a bit.  

My yesterday - cat tend, ran dishwasher (PTL pre water doing off), walk, picked up The Every at library, got home and no water.  Workmen broke something out in front of building so Main St was dry.  Town Hall sent everyone home and I started to make a plan.  BUT first I had "to go" to my ZOOM - The Rest of You Shows Up with Stephen Jenkinson — Orphan Wisdom, Die Wise. Stephen will not soothe you and I did not invite him to. He goes at the culture underneath the family: what happens to adults nobody ever initiated into adulthood, who then find themselves at a deathbed being asked to be grown.  Some of the things I wrote down - "Opportunity to hurt as a condition of being alive", "Family reconstitutes itself around death and its rites become disfiguratively symbolic", "wounded is "at thing" but it is not everything." "It took this."  You had to be there, but in context each thought provoking.  THEN post that session, cat tend and since no water I loaded up and took stuff for a shower at the cat house, jugs and coffee pot to fill up with water.  No coffee in the a.m. was not going to be "a thing".  Before second session of the day, walked up to town DPW to go to the bathroom.  Then session 2: The Dance Doesn't Stop at the End with Daniel Maté — co-author with his father Gabor of The Myth of Normal, and their next book, Hello Again: A Fresh Start for Parents and Adult Children, is out next spring. Daniel has done this in public, with his own father, which is not a small thing to do.  Yikes...parent and adult child paradoxes...  THEN at 7:53 p.m.  I thought I would check water one more time and VOILA it was on.  So I flicked the switch back on for the electric water heater which the landlord had come down and told me to flip the breaker off until the water came back on.  I washed my mean #2 dishes and went to bed.  

Lots of thoughts as I walked yesterday about my disapproval of swimming lady and her cat ownership at almost 90 years old.  Especially as "fire drills" with sister/BIL and/or herself are only going to increase - in my mind.  Why add to the plate of "have tos", expense items, cat tending issues when fire drills happen - when you don't have to at end of life.  Mate brought up the origin of word resentment  -French evolution: Combined with the prefix re-, it formed the Middle French ressentir, meaning "to feel again" or "to feel intensely".  If I can't cat tend without resentment...next ask answer might have to be no.  We will see where I end up at week's end.  No word yet on return from swimming lady, but I will keep the good thought that it will be sooner than later.  Yesterday's cosmic guidance..."Cautious, pace myself, lighten up a little."  Hmmm...hope I do better with today's guidance.

Today - did my monthly report already - 24 hours early, but I think it will be directionally correct, clean apt, cat tend, walk with family friend, EOLD - Tending to Our Dead Ourselves with Joseph Orso, 2 summit sessions - Surviving the Foxhole — boundaries, scripts, and nervous-system tools for the acute season with Dr. Karen Wyatt — hospice physician and host of End-of-Life University, on "What I Wish Every Family Knew Before Someone They Love is Dying." She's also bringing a Bedside Guide to Forgiveness, for finding some peace while you are still, in fact, angry. Which most people are, and almost nobody admits. And Nicole Heidbreder — I'm taking the second Day 3 slot myself, because this is the only purely practical day and the foxhole is the part I know from both sides: I've been the hospice nurse standing in the middle of somebody else's family war, and I've been the daughter in my own. So I'm doing the session I wish somebody had handed me. Dancing with Triangulation (and how to stay out of it). What to do when you've quietly become the family's messenger. How to be in a room without absorbing everything in it.  Cat tend #2 after first session. Will see what else falls into the day. 

You need to stop running here, there and everywhere and getting nowhere fast and to slow down long enough to take a proper look at your current situation. Almost certainly it’s not half as serious as you think it is, so quit worrying.

Well that was a day...heart is full.

Thought of the word "balance" after yesterday.  Incredible sessions for listening presented in the "The Death Inside the Death".  And the day built up around them.  But day started with the dreaded cat tending and another day of rain.  Oh well.  Cat was fine.  :)  Praise the lord the swimming lady did not get a dog!  

So yesterday - did clothes washing, cat, dropped off Good Morning, Midnight at library, Shoprite/ALDI.  As I shared with family friend who gets a kick out of my spend/save tracking.  "Shopping report - $14.92/5 items ALDI - Grapes, bread, peanut butter.  Shoprite - $27.27/$23.75 13 items.  All sale items except my chunk-o-cheese which is cheaper than ALDI in Shoprite brand size and form.  Pancake makings/syrup on sale, Progresso soup sale, bar soap sale, bananas, free dozen eggs coupon used."  And as to my travels, I have to smile - I know it is just psychological but since I have my tire pumper upper, my car feels more "solid" on the road.  :)  Went out for soaking wet sneakers umbrella walk. (Sneakers on the window sill but low expectations of "dryness" for today's walk).  Then into first session of week long set of discussion that I signed up for.  1 p.m. and 6 p.m.  After 1 p.m. swung by cat (do 2 stops per day).  Then 4 p.m. FEN. Then ZEN DC after 6 p.m. session.  WHEW!

Today - will run dishwasher, cat, walk, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. again and just begged off Rochester DC when I realized that the 1 and 6 pms are running 90 minutes each rather than what I thought would be 60.  Will do second cat after the 1 p.m.  Shared the replay of the sessions with sister #1 and GA DC facilitator.  

Also shared with sister #1 re her gentleman caller's ER adventure of the past weekend.  Glad to hear that he has a POLST and that they might consider taking it on the road with them.  ER visits seem to be a part of their recent travels...  I am thinking that he never lost consciousness on your latest sojourn but since you - to my knowledge - are not his Healthcare POA, might you two want to travel with a fully executed POLST form?  Print POLST form on Pulsar Pink card stock (65#)   POLST or MOLST depending on state - color is dependent on state also - is the most likely document to be honored because it is signed by a doctor.  I have heard all kinds of tales about orders not being honored, but because it is at the doctor-to-doctor level, it has the best chance.  And, And if he hasn't and would want to, he might want to amend any Living Will he has to reflect his pacemaker and what he wants to have happen if the pacemaker is the only thing keeping him "alive".  That situation moved Katy Butler to write the book The Art of Dying Well about the aftermath of her Wesleyan professor father with a pacemaker and what she and her mother had to go through when that was the case for him.  

Will see where I am taken today in my thinking.  My mind is "a place" for sure.  :)

Still a little rain but things settling

Couple of coastal people checked in.  Niece #4 said all was OK, she was practicing her suturing...not sure what/who practice takes place.  :) Picture from my cousin from Hammonasset from 4 p.m. on Sunday.  Sibling call from sister #1.  Gentleman caller OK.  Listening to news as we speak.  Will see if everyone is back with power and schools in session.  5:05 a.m. as we speak.  Did reminisce that it was a good thing that NC friends did their New England tour LAST September.  They would have been on the tail end of their travels during this stormy time.  Phew.  :)  Cat tend, walked to Unionville - soggy not soaking, cat tend, topped off my tires with my new pump machine - only one tire needed a shot, Death Sangha, read, Albany CA DC to end the day.  Waiting "patiently" to hear from swimming lady as to when she is due home.  :/  (insert praying hands emoji)  :)

Today - cat tend, walk, Shoprite/ALDI, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. first day of 5 days for ‘Death Inside the Death’ , cat tend, 4 p.m. FEN, 7:30 p.m. ZEN DC...will drop off Good Morning, Midnight book.  Tomorrow will pick up the Eggers that came in for me.  The Every.

Yesterday was a heart of hearts day in my world!!!  It must have been the electricity in the weather system passing over my part of the world.  But I was positively and completely inundated - not with rain or wind as forecast - but outreach from people who are significant in my life.  And "surprise, surprise"... not - 3 were from the southern part of heaven.  :)  

Started my day with my cat tending...hope swimming lady comes home soon.  :/  Can't figure why old people would acquire late in life pets.  :)  Went on an abbreviated walk thinking that any minute the rain and wind would be unleashed...never happened even into the overnight.  But I read almost all of my October book club book and that was a great read to do in casi one sitting.  Heard from NC friend whose wife is in their CCRC's memory unit.  I had written a poem and sent it his way.  Got this in "return mail" -  Thank you for your kind "Be alert. be present, be loving” note. I loved it and with it receive your “buckets of love.”  I will read your lovely poem to Mary tonight at dinner. Like me, she will cry and love it. Thank you for thinking of us. What a joy to have you on our pathway of life!  AND got a call from my brother!!!  AND got the kindest words from dearest friends in that neck of the woods.  They are having their first overnight guests soon at their new house.  Wish that was me!  We will see what I can do about that as we go through the balance of 2026...

Only local coastal report I got was from sister #6.  Nothing burger out her way as of yesterday afternoon.  The only "action" was that sister #1 and gentleman caller were in the emergency room in the town where sister #6 lives.  An hour ambulance ride from where sister #1 is vacationing...AND sister #1 decided to go back to their cottage instead of staying with sister #6.  People are funny.  I will see what sister #1 has to say in my sibling call this a.m.  

So yesterday I would say my day was 80% reading.  But I slept like a log with full dreams.  Very interesting day.  There was some cosmic "dust up" for sure as that meteorological event took place in the vicinity.  

Today - cat tending, walk to Unionville, I think I am going to designate Sunday as my check my tires day so that getting out and about for my Monday grocery shopping is not derailed, cat tending second round of the day, Death Sangha at 1 p.m., Albany CA DC at 7 p.m.  Tomorrow - 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m.

Sister #4 sent this pic from yesterday from her area...nothing as of that time - mid day Friday.  We will see if things change.  :)  Sisters #1,4,6 are all coastal as we speak today.  I have nothing outside my window as we speak.  Waiting for the morning update from the hype-master meteorologists.  But I will stay ready.  

Yesterday Friday reservoir route, in car to go to massage and swung by the library to stock up in case I am in the house a lot because of rain.  AND I got a notice when I was home that my Eggers' requested book is in - The Every. Have to pick up by Oct 1.  But right now on my bedside table - A Fortune of Sand/Sepetys, A Vast Horizon/Thomasson, Don't be Evil/Stapleton, God's Country/Krueger.  Did I already read that Krueger?  I will check my library history but I think not.  Then from library, drove to massage.  Tires and car behaved.  It is only a mile up and back but I had not driven the car since I topped off my tires with my new pump.  :)  Great massage.  Then I walked up to swimming lady's to cat tend.  Will head back later this morning and possibly this afternoon.  I will do what I need to do so that if it is too rainy and windy, I don't have to go out.  Then a phone call from TX/NM friend.  She is still both.  She and her husband are not the proud owners of 3 homes - 2 NM and 1 TX.  Furniture still in TX house.  She is guesting at her sister's.  

Today - walk before rain is my plan - fingers crossed.  Then cat tend.  Then become one with my couch if the storm does appear.  I will hope that lights and cable stay on.  This week's All-In cued up to listen to next.  Will see how day unfolds from there.  

An NC friend called.  He wanted to let me know what my brother had already shared with me.  His wife got her official diagnosis - Alzheimer's.  I did not share that I had heard from his wife a few weeks back when she "happened on" her phone and gave me a call.  Fortunate that they are where they are, getting the care they both need, AND have the money to fund it all.  

The time for thinking is over and the time for action has arrived. The full moon in your opposite sign will give you plenty of excuses to do nothing but if you don’t act decisively now you will always regret it. Don’t do it tomorrow, do it today!

Dinner with boss from former school #2 has me seeing horses.  :)  Finally made it to the new Shake Shack.  I could have eaten twice the portion amounts, but probably just as well that Shake saved me from overeating.  Loved the report of former school #2 boss chaperoning an event last weekend at former school #1 and interacting with former co workers there.  I love that when my worlds collide.  :)

So full yesterday report - walking...Regular Thursday reservoir route, stopped at library to read the latest NYT Sunday Magazine.  Got home.  Finished CIRCLE.  Yikes.  HOW did Eggers write what he wrote in 2013 when what pretty much captured exactly what is happening today!!!  Then walked to the Shoppes to meet former boss via library to drop off CIRCLE. THEN she and I went on a walk before we ate.  Then in the PTL category, she offered to give me a ride home!  I could have made it...but I had covered some ground yesterday.  :)  A lady did stop me in the parking lot of OSJL when I popped in to use their restroom, said she had been looking forward to running into me and share that she applauds my walking.  Always entertaining to me when people want to meet "the walking lady".  But yesterday was a 10+ miles day when I try to do the math. For the record I had a Smoke Shack single burger, order of FF, and an incredible chocolate milk shake...yes, with whipped cream. Got home and started October Book Club Book - Good Morning, Midnight.  Good day all around.  

Today - Massage Friday!!! Another item in the PTL category.  Very good timing after the walking yesterday.  Will do Friday reservoir route, drive to massage to test out my post pumped up tires car.  Heard from TX/NM friend via email yesterday.  She said she would give me a call today.  Will be good to hear what her landing in NM, closing on new house, and general life update.  Just a bit different from my chosen range of life motion.  :)  I will reach out to sister #6 to offer her a visit here this weekend if she does not want to stay on the Cape this weekend.  Will see what Mr. Weatherman is talking about, but always taking the hype of weather people to up their viewing ratings and the reality of a particular storm.  Also first day of my cat tending job...swimming lady off to AZ today to see 90 yr old sister and brother in law both in infirmed states.  My MO has been 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. pop ins.  It will never cease to amaze me why people of advanced age...or any age in my mind...take on a pet.  Oh well.  I am thinking she might slip me just enough money to pay for my tire pump so as always - "I never get ahead but I get even", when it comes to money.  

Don’t be surprised if what you were planning for the weekend falls apart for no apparent reason over the next 24 hours. It’s probably because you did not plan carefully enough and overlooked certain factors that make failure more likely than success.

More developments... :)

Another high input day - in my low input life.  :) Wednesday - cleaned apartment, watched an All-In with Pratt and Hilton, walked with family friend, EOLD, swimming lady's house, GA DC.  BUT the interlude right before walk and then right after got things rolling. Fanttik X8 APEX tire pump.  Ordered by sister #4 as we talked on the phone while I walked to ALDI on Tuesday.  Was to arrive between 4-7 a.m. on Wednesday per her info.  Sister #4 does not get up as early as me, so it was 8 a.m. when she texted to say - "says it has been delivered but it does not look like a pic of your stoop"... I went out my front door and went up and down the block.  No package, then I decided to look at parking lot side which did not make sense as a drop off spot, but on the way to parking lot I saw an Amazon package on the loading dock of the store at the end of my block.  And there it was!  So I hustled upstairs to my apt.  Got it plugged in to charge so I would be ready to pump up any tire need when I got back from walk.  I was going to ask family friend to be my wingman, but she did not offer, so I said I will try it on my own.  But in my "led and guided" mode of late, my landlord was in the back parking lot when I went down.  Very helpful having someone else there AND especially someone like him who is completely and totally handy!  So all tires checked and pumped.  None were very low.  Very mind settling in the current "what if" list of things as to things obsolete-ing around me in my silly life.  :)  

So got that done.  Then EOLD.  Putting things in perspective - me and my tire pump versus the lady speaking to the group fighting incurable cancer...  Then off to swimming lady's house.  She had mastered the Shoprite app.  :)  And we talked about her medical directives and getting a MOLST.  But more talking about her trip to AZ to see her 90 yr old sister and brother in law.  Brother in law is back in the hospital.  Out of my range of mental motion.  Doctors talking about the next thing to do..."how about if we do nothing?" was a question I told the swimming lady to add to the list of questions when she gets out there.  Just my thought.  Then home.  Talked to sister #4.  She was out walking and wanted to check in on my pump progress.  :)  She had car stuff at a maintenance stop at her car place.  I also shared with her that I saw 3 of her high school classmates as I was walking and they were having a snack at the cafe down the block.  She is also doing some prep work in yard and around the pool to batten down the hatches as the possible storm is forming for this weekend.  Could be interesting for sisters #1,4,6 based on their locations.  Then GA DC.  Good discussion.

Today - only one thing on my paper calendar.  Meeting former school #2 boss for walk and dinner - meet at Shoppes, walk a bit, dinner at Shake Shack.  Will walk to and from Shoppes as I think about it at 4:45 a.m. (meet time is 4:45 p.m. in front of Shake Shack)  :)

Development yesterday from swimming lady visit - she leaves Friday for AZ with open return date...so it will be me and cat care while she is gone, but I have to smile.  In my "never get ahead, get even" as to money - she pays me for my care and maintenance of the cat visits.  So I should make just around the same as what I owe sister #4 for my pump.  :)  Led and guided.  :)

This roller coaster ride picture that a former school #1 made with me photoshopped in feels right for today. And a good reminder that her birthday is Friday so I made a note on my paper calendar so I remember to email her.  It has been that kind of month.  Lots of input from lots of angles and now we are passed the autumnal equinox and on to...we will see.

I should have taken notes yesterday.  :)  Ran dishwasher. But here is what I am piecing together.  Spent time in a.m. looking at the tire pumps.  Was ready to send my son a note to help his mother make an online purchase, but sister #4 called while I was walking and she placed the order and with her "purchasing power" she has a pump coming to me between 4-7 a.m. today so I will hope I am off to the races and will get it into my routine to check tires weekly to keep me on the move.  I will hope it is not too complicated.  I have my landlord in the loop now as to my "issue" so I will reach out to him if needed.  So back to the top of the day - watched some more of the All-In Summit videos, researched my pump, then with a 1 p.m. CA DC headed out for my walk which was to ALDI and back.  Decided I would finish up my weekly shopping on foot again so a $14.70/6 item ALDI day, so a $21.76 week.  I am rounding up and will owe sister #4 $100 for pump and the "block" thing I needed in order to charge it.  Sister #4 said most people have a drawer of them in their house...I have none.  Arms were getting a bit tired from carrying - peaches, grapes, bread, eggs, (family friend's chickens are transitioning to the cooler weather laying quantity), vanilla sandwich cookies but I made it.  CA DC.  Then went to walk around the block to wind down from my satchel walk and pump purchase.  Ran into landlord.  Landlady purchased a new all electric car so I reminded him about the free charging station in the town hall parking lot.  So he and I drove the block to plug in.  Much faster and more convenient than plugging it in to the back of his building.  AND landlady left quiche and cookies on my stoop yesterday for today!  I had texted her after seeing the new car - now she and landlord both have red cars - "feel like I am living at the firehouse".  :) Reading CIRCLE.  Death Sangha at 8 p.m. as a good place to spend the actual hour of the equinox.  Also had a fun back and forth with a DC participant in Australia in the early morning for me, meat of day for her.  She is moving into Spring as we are moving into Fall.  In the mail I got a coupon array for the month of October for Shoprite.  Will need to make sure my TX/NM friend knows about the ones for the week she and other family members are here in October.  $10 off/$50 - and their group will definitely have purchases over $50.00.  :)  I might try and figure out how to use the one for next week or the week after if I can find enough sales stuff to buy to get the $10 off/$50 or if I spend $15 - the free eggs the first week or the free lb of butter the next.  Did hear from former school #2 boss and she will meet me on Thursday for a walk and Shake Shack dinner!  As I shared with her - "Complete and total "Roger that"!    Somebody said their chocolate shakes are "too" chocolate-y.  I plan on debunking that myth!  And I have to smile as I was having hamburger, fries and shakes with my Bates' sister at GRAZE in Westerly Sept 10!  Theme of the month - Bates and burgers!  See you Thursday."   And not knowing that I was going to get the pump so quickly, I did set up our get together so I could walk to and from.  I think I will stay with that plan even if tires are full and reading to ride.  :)

Today - clean apt, walk with family friend sans daughter and grandson.  Daughter came to the end of her 3 month maternity leave.  EOLD at noon.  2 p.m. to swimming lady's for Shoprite coupon tutorial and take a look at what she came up with for her medical directives.  7 p.m. GA DC.  One of the members was scheduled for Switzerland last week.  We will see if update is shared.  Friday is Massage Friday!  We will see if rain disturbs my weekend walking.

Good news, not-so-good news from yesterday BUT I did feel guided and led.  Lately I have been going to Shoprite/ALDI post walk, but yesterday was a full day online so I headed out early.  Pancake flat driver's side rear tire.  So with a day with 12 noon, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. zoom getting this news earlier in the day than later - good news.  So I called AAA and the wait began. Did start the clothes washing machine. But as I reported out to PD buddy after AAA guy did his magic and I drove over to Zeller Tire - "Dry rot leak...no solution except keep adding air till it falls apart.  AAA guy was very kind, and Zeller guys were dead beat honest.  And told me to just stop in and they will fill.  :/"  So action AAA, Zeller, walked from Zeller to Shoprite where I got the bag-o-salad that was on sale-2 for $5.50 and my bananas just to get the "must haves" dealt with - $7.06/$2.48 day - and then walked back to Zeller to see what was up and got the dry rot news.  So then I emailed sister #4 to see what the brand is for the tire pump she uses when she tops me off when I am in Westerly.  No response yet, but I will hope to get my son involved in reaching out to Amazon to get it for me.  I am not an Amazon shopper and don't want to start.  Then got my car home. Landlord felt I was a bit dramatic as usual about how life was falling apart..."because of a flat tire?"...But moving to life without a car will be dramatic when it finally happens.  Walked to library to drop of Crying at H Mart and I picked up "A Fortune of Sand - SEPETYS.  And put a hold on my next Eggers - The Every.  The Circle has completely hooked me and I keep thinking about he was writing it in 2013...Prescient beyond belief.  So with my bananas and salad in hand, car in parking lot, I went into my ZOOMs.  All were just what I needed.  MEA, Mettle, and PA DC.  MEA in their signature super salesperson mode for their next offering outside of Santa Fe, NM and outside of my range of motion travel wise and money wise.  Oh well.  I am just glad they offer these free promotional sessions that I can go to.  I need a BREATHE session after my flat tire start to the day.  Mettle Health follow up conversation to Friday's webinar - wonderful.  PA DC kind and gentle people in the room as always.  There is something about my being in rooms with midwesterners or southerners that is just softer than the E/W coasts...  And I will ad a DC participant from Australia who I sent a video to and she came back with her update.  Kindness in living form.  The video was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcgnZ55sAAs&t=718s  The Weight of Regret:  Finding Peace in Life's Messiness.

My car's "hospice" status feels real-er now.  Zeller guy said he could put a new tire on but it would need rim too and..."not worth it" based on state of car.  Sort of like when the doctor says - "Nothing else we can do".  There goes my drama again.  :)  

Today - another outreach to sister #4 about my pump.  Crickets from yesterday's outreach.  Run dishwasher.  CA DC at 1 p.m.  Death Sangha at 8 p.m.  What a perfect way to end the autumnal equinox.  On my clock I will be in the Sangha when it "officially" happens.  Walk will include a swing by ALDI.  Grapes, bread, eggs.  Had an outreach from former school #2 to get together on Thursday.  Walk/dinner.  I put it out there to meet at Shake Shack at our local Shoppes area and walk the rails-to-trails by there and then eat.  Will see if she bites.  That way I know I can get there regardless of state of car.  I can walk to Shoppes AND Thursday was the only day this week with nothing on my paper calendar so it feels like it was meant to be.  Will see if she bites or not.

Picture from that Chip Conley poem from his substack.  Keep coming back to that and Eggers and tech company.  I did have a question as I am reading CIRCLE...are there no chapters so you get that "can't stop and get my bearings" feeling?  Just my thought as I keep looking for a comfortable place to stop reading which chapters usually provide.  CIRCLE does not encourage comfortable stopping points.  :)  I can overthink anything.  

Yesterday - soggy but not soaking walk to Unionville, sibling call while walking, read CIRCLE, "seasoned water" for washing clothes today.  Interesting segment on ICT news yesterday about the fact that the government is considering closing National Archives in Seattle, San Francisco and Chicago...more freedom of information/access questions.  

Today - wash clothes, 12 noon MEA sales pitch, but I will go anyway - Live Event: Alchemy of Breath: Breathe Into Clarity, Courage, and Inner Guidance, 2 p.m. Mettle - Dive In and Digest: When Caregiving Comes to Work, 4:30 p.m. PA DC.  And fit in with that - Shoprite/ALDI - have to recheck what I need, walk, return Crying at H Mart...  But it is early so I think all will fit.  :)  Salad mix sale at Shoprite might be the clincher.
