Busy Sunday in a Sunday way

I started slow with my talking head shows and am even more confused as to what needs to be done politically in this world. But I will keep watching and listening. I also got invited to a local home for a fundraiser at the end of September for an Arts organization in town, but I am sure that political talk will be flowing also based on the hostess' strong involvement. She is the one who got me involved with the Murphy campaign last year.

Here is an email I sent sisters #1-5 sharing about my Saturday and my envy that sister #3 had a Patty Hearst encounter at the beach this week!

"Just heard from father that the house on the left (as you look at their house) was broken into and ransacked using the ladder that our father has leaning up against his garage - the guy was out of town...and they tried to get into the other neighbors but they couldn't get in beyond cutting the screen on Friday night! I would have loved to be in the livingroom when mother and father were being talked with by the police. I guess they did not see anything in our parents' windows they needed. I was at Max's Oyster Bar and driving by at 8:30-9 p.m. Friday night, I guess I should have cruised the street. They are saying it happened sometime after 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday a.m.

What a wake up call for their street! Never a dull moment.

I am feeling a little anti-police today as I was "arrested" yesterday for a seat belt violation. I was at the beach and was going from Hallmark to church in Old Lyme when this 13 yr old cop pulled me over...it was a $40 ice cream cone! $3 + $37 ticket. Maybe it was God taking my mind off the Patty Hearst sighting sister #3 had in Provincetown. She was my IDOL when she was an urban guerrilla and in the SLA! I wanted to be an urban guerrilla! I think that was all going on when I was in Houston. I guess I had that in my mind when that cop pulled me over so I probably was not as reverent as I should have been. You know I am kicking myself for treating myself to that ice cream cone!

Talking a lot about work this week - new school, current school. Again, never a dull moment."

The Patty Hearst sighting really got to me!

Finally got the information on what happened with my son's travel plans to Las Vegas to meet up with his dad and grandmother. He ended up spending the night in Detroit due to a connecting flight that could not get off the ground due to all the mid west storms. By the time he got to Las Vegas the family had left for the Grand Canyon so my son never got there. He was hanging in Las Vegas when he called me and would be meeting up with the family when they got back from the canyon, spend the evening with them, then fly out Sunday. Hope his trip back to NYC is less eventful.

Good Q&A last night - David Obie, D-WI. There is no better interviewer in the world than Brian Lamb!

Just heard that Georgia won the LL World Series, NY lost with the last batter hitting into a double play. It is getting a bit late in the season for the kind of run they need to have to get in the playoffs.

Ads for the new Fall shows are not speaking very well of our need for intellectual stimulation - Dirty, Sexy, Money and Big Shots...not exactly Q&A...

But back to yesterday, after my talking heads shows, I was walking over to my friend since 4 yrs old's house to drop off the golf magazine my father gets that we pass along to her daughter who is a high school golf star. On the way I saw my brother was at one of his many "works" so I stopped by to talk for a minute and then his daughter and wife came by so I walked their dogs while they had lunch. Then I went to an open house at my former co-worker, co-walker now organic subsistence farmer's house that is on the market. The house was looking good, but it is a niche item for this area. Then off to the parents to see if they needed to move the ladders that have been leaning against the house since I can remember - but had now become a larceny tool - into the garage. By the time I got there my 88 yr old father had already moved them. After a few minutes there, I was off to the town pool for one of my last dips of the season, walk, then back to the house to eat and settle in for Q&A.

Good night's sleep - active dream night. Hope my mind will remind calm and rested as I go through this week.
