I have kept meaning to mention that I am noticing the difference in light that greets me in the morning and stays with me at night. Not a good thing for me. I love the light and sun coming up early and staying light until 9 p.m. is fine with me. Nothing but less and less and that pesky "time change" to look forward as fall develops. (no one has been able to tell me why we keep that April/October folly...) But as my teacher sister #4 says, "that's fine, time to go back to school". I guess I should take that approach - just another natural signal to get moving on a new project or course of action. I did send some information off to MORE magazine yesterday. Hope they see my life as a another way to skin life past 50 years old. And throw in a mother-son makeover and I will be happy.
Yesterday was a slow day at work that heated up as the work day came to a close. I hope I hear soon from Admissions or have a good talk today at the new school.
Lots of news last night about another Bush buddy resigning. Announcement was short and sweet, but I stumbled on a CSPAN rerun of an interview they did with Paul Clement in May of this year. Republican or not, I thought he was very smart and sharp. Another WI person who took what life gave them and took it to the limit. (Like Obie on Q&A on Sunday). I do think there is a "good person" gene in that Midwest stock and Minnesota and Wisconsin seem to be the deepest gene pool?
But talking about pools, the Yankees are taking a dive. I don't know if they can recover from this one, but the fact that they have a series this week with the Red Sox will answer a lot of the questions. Also talking about pools, I was sad when I drove by the town pool and it is closed. It will open up for Labor Day weekend, but that will be it. I think I have gotten my $55 worth this summer, but I am sad that it is not an after work stop any more. I will have to see how long our family friend or my brother keep their pools operating. I still have to get a few more trips out of my $50 State Park pass with some September and October beach trips. Even if just for sitting on the beach and reading. But I do have a memory bank of my early years when September was the best time to be at the beach. December was even good - watching the snow fall out of the sky then dissolve when it hit the sand. Never a bad season at the beach.
Heard from sister #4 last night. Visit from our cousin went well. She loved sister #4's house. Hard not to like it. 150+ yr old, great porch, great yard, 5 minutes from the beach...
With no swim last night, I went for my walk "regular route" that has not been regular since I started walking with my co-walking, co-worker in the morning, but I will have to shake things up with the change of season. I did swing by the library on the back side of my walk to read the NY Times. That is always a shot in the arm for me.
Well, our office will be joining this morning's kickoff of the faculty meetings to hear the "State of the New Union" school address by the new Head of School, then my appointment at lunch time, then all school faculty/staff community picnic on the front lawn tonight. Weather is going to be perfect for the outdoor event and that is the good news as the new dining room furniture has not arrived for the re-done dining room...
Exciting day ahead. Have a good Tuesday.
