All Star Tuesday

I started crying during the opening of the All Star game - all the HOF'ers and George (looking pretty frail...). I had started paying attention with the Homerun Derby with two small world connections - Josh Hamilton who was playing high school ball in the Raleigh NC area when I lived in NC and Justin Morneau played for the New Britain Rockcats here in CT.

Just read the blog of a friend who is in the Peace Corps in Benin. I am completely envious.

Off to see Casablanca tonight at Wesleyan with an ex co-worker that I ditched this weekend to spend more time by myself...we will see if there is any residual tonight. I don't understand if she will understand that I am social (as social as I can be...) on the weekdays but not so on the weekends.

Beautiful weather - my former boss asked if I would go for a walk with her at lunchtime yesterday. I thought she was going to yell at me for something, but she really only wanted to walk. I guess I always think I am in trouble at work - "plays well with others" has been my nemesis since kindergarten.

Daily and Jul 17-23 cosmic guidance seem to have a theme.

"July 16, 2008

Certain things need to be said and you are the one who must say them. Don't worry that other people's sensitive egos might be hurt - worry only that if you don't speak up now someone will lose out later - and that someone might very well be you."

"Barack Obama may not be the messiah, but in comparison to the person he will replace as President of the United States next January, he's the second coming of King Arthur. Still, it's crucial to keep in mind that Obama can't single-handedly and magically heal all the havoc inflicted on America and the world by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. The resuscitation will have to be accomplished primarily by we-the-people, and as much on the local level as in the federal realm. In the same way, Libra, fixing the problems that are vexing your personal sphere must be the task of the whole group, not just the boss or leader. I suggest you work on convincing everyone to take more responsibility and be more accountable. It's time to apply the principles of grass-roots democracy to your own life."

Have a good Wednesday.
