Couldn't really get a read on how the day went. No PT, not sure how much sleep, I did not ask for much of a report. I did not open the doors about any information reports. Too much information of late. I needed a day off. My "day off" - i.e. stay at work until the normal closing time, changed when sister #3 called and asked if I could pick up her partner at the rental car place at 4-ish. That was fine.
Tom Tresh passed away, $2.93 a gallon gas yesterday, Red Sox comeback, stock market roller coaster, first hard freeze due this weekend, Book Club coming up on Monday (I didn't even realize that it would normally have been last Monday but it was postponed to the 20th because of the Columbus Day holiday. I have not read the book, but I want to go anyway because from what I have read, I really think I am going to like it), family in from El Salvador to see if we would accept her daughter and have her start school on Monday...that type of request always has us asking "WHY?" - just some of the things that got my attention yesterday and this a.m.
Wine & Cheese tonight, but I think I will pass. It is "hosted" by the Administrative Council ("the school bosses") and I am always afraid of what will come out of my mouth when I have a glass of wine in my hand and a boss in front of me...the good news is I will have mother to excuse my absence.
I called Dr. Donaldson's office yesterday morning to ask about who missed the pain medication order for mother as she left the hospital. It was amazing to me when I called in the a.m. and the hospital phone system directed me to "dial 0" for medical emergency for before or after hours contact with the neurology department and I got "Mike, not allowed to give my last name" - who started talking like he was a medical person then with further questions, he was just the hospital night phone operator. He should be careful he does not misrepresent himself as someone who knows more than phone extensions and the inability of the hospital system to deal with after hour requests for information.
I have not gotten the report from my father as to his meeting with hospital personnel. I hope he had his "Esquire" letterhead displayed as he spoke. Now I know why people feel that having to go into the hospital when elderly is the beginning of the end. The lack of attention to detail and patient history is so amazing to me.
Another weekend ahead. I think I will let other family members be the front people this weekend - I am hoping that sister #3 will be back after sister #1 leaves after next week, but I think that is wishful thinking and I will cross that bridge when we get there.
I did look up SUNRISE Senior Living. Seemed to have a good rep. We will explore that more for the parental units. Feels like we need to explore that option or making the physical changes to their current house and hiring help.
Have a good weekend.
